UPDATE: Did my WEDDING HAIR with NEYDA for my Wedding in Jamaica Feb 1,2025. I did it Tuesday & it lasted until SATURDAY. I was in the pool & everything. I would trust no1 else to do my wedding hair but them- i wanted my hair naturally curly, because curly natural hair is formal & beautiful for special occassions !!
Best curly hair salon I've ever been to. NEYDA is the BEST- hands down. She transformed my hair and I really do feel so confident in my hair. I have recommended them to everyone. I went for the first time a week ago and I was INCREDIBLY impressed. I have zero complaints, except I wish they existed all over the US, in all states. I will literally fly to Miami to get my hair done here. I live in North Carolina currently. They believe in the mantra that I do, which is , to embrace wearing your hair in it's naturally curly state. This place is such a niche, I could just go on & on. I don't trust anywhere else with my hair and nobody styles it like they do. I went once to Neyda & I will be going back to her onward. Neyda loves what she does. It shows. I drove 1.5 hour from Fort Lauderdale for this appointment in rush hour traffic, taking the express way to make it to a 9am appointment & it was WORTH IT. I called to let them know I was stuck in traffic. The receptionist was extremely polite from the get go, informed me of all the polices, answered all my questions- their customer service is SUPERB imo. Luckily they were able to still see me, but again they COMMUNICATED at every step of the way. Before she put in any product, she told me, she even suggested I take pictures of it, she guided me along what she was doing to my hair at each step, she made me feel very comfortable and just actually confident going to a salon to style my natural curly hair. I got the finger coiling done & my hair felt SO LIGHT- like it had never before. I still get compliments & it's been a week later. Strangers stop me asking me what products I use, how I got my hair this way & where. I told them NEYDA lol. She TRANSFORMED my hair. I never thought my hair could FEEL or LOOK like this. She didn't try to sell me like some annoying hairdressers do, and because of this, it made me want to come back and do more! She educated me on my hair, all while not being pushy or judgemental or let's be frank- seeing my curls as "hard to manage" or "not as pretty". Neyda is an absolute asset to the Curl Whisperer. Again, my only wish is it was in the state I live in and not only in Miami. Every other salon either wants to blow dry, silk press, keratin treat my curly hair or only color and cut it. The Curl Whisperer is certified in 4 different curly haircuts ( no other salon I've seen like this- probably only in NYC & I’ve been to deva salons in NYC & curly whisperer is superior to me) , color - which they are experts at also, and styling as wash & style or finger coiling. Everyone's hair at the salon looks amazing- which is a great tell tale sign. Listen, if you have naturally curly hair- don't waste your time - go to them. They are the only salon that I've been to in my life that knows how to style my type of curly hair. Every other salon else damages it or complains or doesn't know what they are doing. Plus they are SUPER AFFORDABLE. I will be back every time I am visting south florida. There is no other place like the Curl Whisperer. I just wish I had found it sooner. Left is right after she washed it (forgot to take a before photo) and right is the...
Read moreThe first time I came here, a year ago, it was great. My hairstylist was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and considerate that it was my first time and I was just starting my curl journey. However, my most recent haircut was not the best by any standard and I waited a month or 2 to right this to see if I ended up liking the haircut. My hairstylist Neyda did not make me feel comfortable in the way she was cutting my hair. For context, you have to wash your hair and dry before coming, and I had my appt after work, so after 8 hrs my heat damaged curls were pretty weighed down. I asked for a rezo cut and wrote in the notes before my appt how I wanted that, and I am still new to embracing my curls and this was also the first time I was cutting my hair shorter than my shoulders! Neyda proceeds to ask me how I want my haircut (obviously did not read the notes of my appt) and I said rezo. She proceeded to tell me my hair is not really curly so I wouldn’t be able to do that. I told her my hair is curly but it’s just weighed down from the heat and hours of being down. She tells me it would be better if I do layers. I’m still a bit angry having to defend my curls but seeing that she was a “senior” hairstylist I assumed she’s a professional and knows what she’s doing so I let her do layers. As she cuts my hair I’m already upset by what I am seeing but I already tried to voice my opinion and it didn’t work so I just sat in silence. She knows I’m upset and asks is this length fine and I say yes, because I was afraid to go shorter with her. Once I go to get my hair wash my hair gets pretty curly and she does one or two more small snips before blowdrying. She still sees I’m upset and asks what I don’t like and we can cut it shorter to frame more my face, and I say no thank you I don’t want to cut shorter. At the end she charges me for a rezo cut and I ask, upset, stating didn’t you give me layers? Why am I being charged for a cut you didn’t do? And she says “oh yea, I did the rezo cut at the end”. … and I asked when and she says after I wet my hair. Again she only did 1-2 snips before blowdrying. And the rezo cut focuses on an even cut and length, when I obviously have layers now. So I found it upsetting and irritating that she decided in her head to switch the cut, from layers, which I did not even want, to rezo without consulting me. And I’m pretty sure she didn’t give me a rezo haircut she just wanted to charge me the $110-130. I’m not a confrontational person so I asked again so you switched it back to a rezo and she said yes and “because I’m a senior hairstyles it’s $10 extra”. I didn’t want to be there anymore so I paid and left.
Update: They replied back a few weeks after I posted the original. They were gracious in their reply and they acknowledged the miscommunication and the difficulties with getting a haircut. They clarified about the extra fee depending on the hairstylist experience, which wasn’t the problem for me, it was just an extra annoyance. I appreciate the reply though and I will certainly consider coming back next time I...
Read moreI love curl whisperer but I’ll just drive to sunset location from plantation instead of midtown. I’m going to reschedule with one of the stylists that is still there since I began going to curl whisper many years ago before midtown location existed. (Ariadna)
I paid 180$ to go in and come out looking the same. It was my first time with Katherine in midtown, last time it was Liam (she’s not there anymore unfortunately, she was great). I asked for length with volume if possible but if not I want to go short. I told her I don’t like flat hair and I like a lot of volume. She agreed to clean up and trim, I assumed she would trim all my layers. She literally only cut a couple of curls off then proceeded to brush my hair while dry. I asked her after she was done brushing if that’s all the hair that she was going to cut and I shared with her my concern that My hair is in a triangle shape. By the look of her face she didn’t agree or see my triangle shape or didn’t know what I was talking about. She then said she would cut my hair more after it was styled & proceeded to have my hair washed.
After wash she styled my hair, she trimmed off a couple more curls at the end of the service and that’s it. She asked me if I wanted to change I did want change but was running short on time and had to go to work and didn’t want her fixing my hair ( I had been there for 2 hours) I just told her it’s fine and left I didn’t want to argue it was my birthday on 12/28. She is a nice woman but Honestly I can gel, twist and diffuse my own hair. I come to Curl whisper mainly for hair cut and I see it as amazing to have your hair styled that’s offered along with your hair cut and included in the price.
Update: as the days go on I hate my haircut more and more. It’s terribly cut and I posted pictures to show. I’ve tried styling it. I don’t understand why the back of my head is looking like that. I looked better before I went in. Never going with...
