Came in to celebrate a dear friend's birthday on a Saturday night. I found this small restaurant to be meat heaven!
I enjoy steaks, but I did not know much about the various grades and types of meats. The menu explains the grade of the meat starting with the Wagyu-Angus Cross, Premium Wagyu, all the way to top grade Japanese A5 Wagyu. I was a bit confused on what to order, but I got the help I needed from Gabriel, who kindly explained the difference between the different tiers on the menu and gave us great recommendations. At Wagyu Bar, they are not shy to disclose the beef quality and grading.
Everything in this place is meticulously selected to create a special menu with unique items focusing on quality, not appearances. Even their beers and sakes are particular and different than what you tend to find in local steakhouses. Everyone enjoyed the house special beer called Inedit. It was light and refreshing. They have two other beers; one from Spain and the other from Japan. Sakes were available by shot pours. The wine selection was small, but I found it to be a nice one.. I'd rather spend more money on the food than the usual overpriced low quality wines. Meat and wine is amazing when paired correctly.
Now let me get to the best part, the meat! For starters, we enjoyed the sausage platter, a mix of grilled premium sausages (3 types) served with toasted bread and chimichurri sauce. They were all very tasty and great options to start tasting the house specialties. For main course, while I usually go for filet mignon, on this occasion I wanted to try something different. On Gabriel's recommendation, I ordered the Denver, a 10oz steak that has been wet aged for 30 days and served with a side of chimichurri sauce. The meat was perfectly cooked to medium rare temperature. I really like when the meat is crispy on the outside but juicy and soft on the inside. It was delicious! The texture was perfect and it just melted in my mouth.
I also tried the picanha steak, which was also nicely cooked. This dish was meant to be shared between 3 to 4 people. For sides, truffled fries, and a special mac and cheese made with very tasty smoked bacon. I only wish it was cheesier but it was still very tasty. The bacon was definitely the highlight of that particular dish. My friend ordered the baseball steak, an 8oz steak from the Japanese A5 tier, and they only had great things to say about it.
Everyone enjoyed their food from beginning to end. The menu offers different cuts and grades of meat, dry aged beef and certified steaks. This place specializes in beef, but even if you are not in the mood for it they have you covered. They offer no beef options, such as Chilean seabass, salmon, lamb chop, chicken, salads and Iberico pork chops. I have to come back and try their 45+ days dry aged brisket bacon cheeseburger. It sounds so good! The staff was friendly and helpful, they even celebrated my friend's birthday. Excellent customer service. The restaurant recently opened and they are doing a great job sharing their delicious products.
It was a wonderful evening of good quality food and wine with friends in Miami. Wagyu Bar is a small steakhouse with a casual vibe that specializes on the meat. A great place when you just want a good piece of beef. They give it to you straight, as they say "no smoke and mirrors."
Covid-related info: The staff was wearing masks at all times. They had some very limited outside seating. Hand sanitizer available at the entrance. Virtual menu available...
Read moreI took my husband to Wagyu Bar for Father's Day and was a bit hesitant to try this place at first because of the mixed customer reviews. Since my husband loves Wagyu steaks, we were willing to give it a fair shake. I am so glad we did, because we had one of the best meals ever. The restaurant is not fine dining. It has a casual dining concept, but we didn't care - they serve excellent food!
We ordered the Prime Porterhouse and Tomahawk Ribeye, Wagyu A5 NY Steak, African/Madagascar Prawns and three sides - steamed rice, creamed spinach, and French fries. While the Porterhouse and Ribeye were excellent, the Wagyu A5 NY Steak was melt-in-your-mouth, toe-curling delicious. It was everything that a top quality A5 steak should be. The star of the show was the African Prawns...pricey at $80 for two prawns, but WORTH EVERY PENNY! The sides and chimichurri sauce were perfect complements for the steaks and prawns. And if that wasn't enough to make us happy, we ended our meal with boozy Agave Dulce de Leche ice cream and the best cups of cortadito. From start to finish, the meal was perfect and exceptional!
Last but not least, I wanted to give a shout out and kudos to three people at Wagyu Bar Miami. First, there's Daniel, our amazing server and table host, who was patient, pleasant, professional, and extremely accommodating the entire evening. Second is Tasala, the sweet, sunny and energetic restaurant manager. I watched her handle a difficult customer at the next table with professionalism and a sweet smile. His stern and angry face broke into a smile after talking to her. It was fun to watch her work her magic. And then there's Chef LJ who came out to say hello after we raved about his African Madagascar Prawns. This chef is humble yet amazing! His dishes and flavors are perfectly balanced. We're still raving about his prawns three days later and we're counting down until we come back with guests in a couple of weeks. Only difference is next time, we're skipping the Tomahawk and Porterhouse, and getting more Wagyu A5 cuts and prawns! Must order more prawns!!! Thank you, Wagyu Bar, for an amazing and memorable meal, one we can't wait to repeat! See you...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars I would. The food tasted mediocre and got all of us (a party of 4) sick. When we let the establishment know about this they just said to bring them proof we went to the hospital. Horrible establishment, save yourselves by not going.
Edit after restaurant response: After my review you have made several claims that were false. We did not order 10 drinks. We ordered 2 each which would equal to 8 because we were 4 people. Hopefully you didn’t overcharge us because that would be another strike. Hopefully you’re just liars or don’t know how to count. Second of all, we ordered the $250 Wagyu sample platter which you’d failed to list on your response. Third, food poisoning can occur just 30 minutes after eating bad food. A quick google search can confirm this claim, anyone reading this can do so and see that the representatives of this establishment are lying about it always taking several days to take effect.
This was a dinner with two couples from two different areas who had two entirely different schedules over the 2 weeks prior to eating at this restaurant. The ONLY commonality between the two couples was sharing a meal at this restaurant, followed by days of gastrointestinal distress beginning about 30-60 minutes after leaving this establishment.
My brother, who was one of the four of us who got sick after eating here also left a review and in your response to him you went into detail about your investigation into the picanha and how and where it was sourced, etc. WE DID NOT EVEN HAVE THE PICANHA. The meats that were in the chefs choice platter were Ribeye, Filet Mignon, Denver and New York strip. Whoever is writing these replies is either not actually investigating anything or is being intentionally misleading.
Anyone reading this thread should be able to easily understand that if the establishment is trying this hard to deflect from responsibility it is because not only did they serve tainted food but their customer service after the fact was so poor that the whole ordeal became a public affair.
At this point, we don’t even care about a refund. We just want people to be warned...
