Alpha Dental Excellence — Attraction in Middletown Township

I just happened to come across this rating I did some years back and never came back to amend it. I must have given them 5 stars after my first visit bc admittedly it was an emergency during COVID and they got me in quickly and did actually give me great care. I stuck with them over the next several months bc my regular dentist was either closed or not able to do the EXTENSIVE amount of work needed as suggested by this provider. At first things seemed ok - the provider spent an extensive amount of time evaluating me and coming up with a treatment plan. He spent a lot of time trying to explain everything which gave me great confidence in what they were proposing and in their ability to carry out the treatment plan. In short, I have an acquired chronic condition that causes severe malnutrition, calcium, Vit D and B12 deficiencies. I also have to take large daily doses of an anticholinergic medication that left my mouth dry as a cotton ball at all times. I was 4 years into that illness by that time & my teeth had taken a huge hit as a result. They we so nice and made me feel confident. However as we progressed into the treatment, things took a turn. I began to feel ambivalent. It seemed like things were constantly becoming complicated and not aligning with what we initially said we'd do. I acknowledge that my case itself was very complicated. During some of the treatments, I experienced a humiliating amount of pain which I absolutely do NOT blame anyone for. But I was poked fun of for it behind my back. Twice, it was insinuated that I could not possibly have that amount of pain during procedures and that it "didn't make sense". I was subsequently denied laughing gas for treatment sessions (anyone see where I'm going with this??) despite the obvious fact that I seemed to not be getting adequate numbing despite copious amounts of Novacaine (again, not their fault). During one of these sessions the owner, who was involved in portions of my care, actually made a joke to me in front of staffers about how loudly I was crying out during a previous particularly intense procedure. Trust me, I TRIED not to and as I said I was humiliated by my unusual pain. I was so taken aback when i was teased for it but tried to shrug that off as a poorly timed attempt to put me at ease. The treatment plan kept changing bc things weren't working out as planned for one reason or another. Still i kept the faith and tried to remain confident. The doctor working on me as well as every single assistant were so kind and caring. Unfortunately, in this process, a mistake was made in a measurement or something which led to a malignment of a post and crown that was meant to support a huge part of the proposed final "product". When that crown was "pulled" to see about adjusting it, the existing tooth stump underneath got broken in half. Now we basically had to scrap the treatment plan. We had already put out thousands at that point! That particular post and crown itself cost near a grand alone I want to say. Imagine that plus others, plus extractions, bone grafting, etc. And NOW, all the work that had been done and paid for is no longer going to be workable?! Months into this. And no admission of any mistake or mistep on their end?! And not like you get a refund on that beautiful, useless porcelain crown that can no longer be used! Next up, final treatment plan is total upper extraction and a complete denture. It was devastating. When sitting down with the billing gals and owner, my husb and I had a lot of questions, some that clearly they didn't like. Suddenly they were cold, borderline hostile and suggested we find another provider. Sure, after we literally already pd $10 grand to them. So we did just that. Made no less than 5 attempts to get my records for the new provider without so much as a return call/email. Attempted to resolve some of the questionable bills from them with zero response. Was I scammed? Not sure. But I know a lot of this was just not quite right. New provider agreed. Just, buyer beware. Shame bc honestly so many kind...

I came across and called Dr. Patel’s number on a Sunday at dinner time amidst an impending snow storm in a panic after calling several “emergency 24/7” dental providers that apparently only treat emergencies during bank hours. I was already blown off by provider who did my original extraction 5 days earlier even after advising his on call office manager that I was experiencing excruciating and progressing pain and swelling at the site of the extraction and I just knew something was wrong. When Dr. Patel’s office manager, Monique answered, I was desperate and had already been seen in the emergency room. To hear her say “yes, we are open now” brought such relief, I literally sobbed to her on the phone. The “oral surgeon” who did the extraction didn’t even have the courtesy to call me personally. After calling his emergency number first, his non-medically trained office manager said she would call me in something stronger for the pain and see me Tuesday, as they were closed Monday for the snow. Dr. Patel called me personally after never having met me before and could hear the despair in my voice. He apparently also knew something was wrong with what I was describing so he literally left his family and young children on a Sunday in the middle of a snow storm and met my husband and me at his office within the hour. After an x-ray and a CT of my teeth, he discovered that the provider who did the extraction left a large piece of tooth in underneath my jaw bone that was causing a massive infection. He literally had to re-open the wound, remove the bone graft I had just paid $760 for 5 days earlier, remove the left over piece of tooth and irrigate out the infected area. He then had to write me a prescription for a stronger antibiotic and pain killer. Despite what ALL of these negative reviews state, he or his office manager Monique did not ask me for one red cent. They didn’t ask for a blank check or a credit card. All she asked for was my insurance card, and added, “don’t worry about the payment right now, let’s just get you out of pain.” There is not a review on here that is going to convince me that these guys did this for the money….and even if they did, well God Bless them, they deserve it for treating an emergency the way it should have been treated! This shouldn’t even have happened in the first place, and he should not have had to leave his family on a weekend at dinner time during a snow storm to clean up someone else’s mess! This exceptional care and compassion is rarely seen anymore, trust me, I’ve been in the health “care” industry for 30 years. Dr. Patel is an extraordinary, above and beyond true healthcare professional, so is his office manager, Monique. They were compassionate, professional and kind. They never once made me feel bad for bothering them. I will be making sure to recommend his services In the future to everyone I meet.. Thank you Dr. Patel for your sense of urgency in treating my dental emergency and unbearable pain. You are a true angel. Alpha Dental Excellence absolutely made a difference in my life by making me have a smile worthy of smiling, because I was so embarrassed with my teeth I would have a closed mouth smile so after some research I decided to go to Apple Dental Excellence Oxford Valley Mall location and we did the full service within two visits pulled out 36 teeth which 34 of them were in need of pulling or serious fixing so I just decided to get a whole mouth full of new teeth I also had bone damage so after extensive dental work done by Dr Patel himself, and excellent excellent doctor. Also I dealt with a lady named Cheryl she was in charge of the financial end and got me my loans to get the service done. After the wait and a couple of pre-fit visits I ended up with a gorgeous set of teeth which I am very proud of to this day and it's been probably 4 years maybe five. The reason I'm writing this is because recently my bottom dentures were severely damaged and I knew I needed replacement so I had talked to Cheryl previously about this and she quoted me a price , but when I went in October 14th 2022, Cheryl pulled out the paperwork out and because this time I did have cash Cheryl gave me a great discount, and ,"I think she snuck in Loyalty Discount, " Thank YOU, Cheryl I know you did do that ,,, and it's probably saved me almost $1,200 which I was very grateful for!! So I ask ," when are we get started ?Thinking it would be a week or two and Cheryl said " right now." So I got up from the financial chair and went directly into a dentist chair where they made my first casting within half an hour of me walking in the Alpha Dental , and asking Cheryl let's talk about getting my teeth finally done and I left probably within 1 hour .I had my first casting and I probably will be able to go back within 2 weeks to get a couple pre-fits and hopefully within 3 weeks I will have my bottom dentures redone and I will be back 100% . And I could have that feeling that when I smile I can open mouth smile and know I have a beautiful set of teeth . so I want to thank the entire dental team. Dr Patel, Cheryl, and the lady that performed the casting for my bottom dentures. The whole Alpha Dental team is very professional and I want to thank them all and let everybody out there to know before you go anywhere at least check out Alpha Dental. Walking into the waiting room itself you can tell it's class, and I was very impressed just walking into the waiting room very nice place so again Alpha Dental thank you very much, always a patient of yours.....
