Plum Tree Garden — Restaurant in Middletown Township

My boyfriend and I went here around 9 pm one evening since they are open until 10. He even called ahead of time and was assured they were open until 10. The entire experience was extremely rushed and service was lacking. I ordered the vegetable fried rice which was not hot when it arrived and was very bland. I'm also used to egg being in it.

My boyfriend ordered the pu pu platter. Normally it comes with some kind of sauce (at other places). He wasn't happy with it and it wasn't hot. He asked the waitress for some kind of dipping sauce and she told him no and to just use the sauce that came with the free appetizer!!! Horrible service and response! The spicy sauce that normally comes with the pu pu platter is nothing like the sweet sauce that is given with the free crispy strips.

As we are eating we notice everyone in the back waiting to leave. We still had 20 minutes until closing time. Then at 9:45 we were told they are closing in 5 minutes. We couldn't even eat our fortune cookies there or calculate a correct tip since they wanted us to leave so quickly.

On a positive note, the man who answered the phone was very friendly and the portions were big, but our female waitress was very unhelpful, condescending, and looked at us like we are idiots. We don't go out to eat much so this was very disappointing. We both agreed that the mall right next door has better food, service, and is cheaper. We started coming here when hong kong pearl was closed for renovations and im glad it happened. The food is amazing but we're basic, so its not like it should be hard to do, yet a lot of places around disappoint with greasy scallion pizza and poor fried rice, but this place puts heart into there food and it shows since we gave up on our 20 some odd years of loyalty switch to our new favorite spot. I would add, though i cant give this place 5 stars due to the fact that a middle aged man working front desk had argued with me when i tried to give one of the enployees a 20 dollar tip for taking our last minute order. After i told him it was a tip for him, he should have gave him the money back, or if there was some rule that i wasnt getting, then he shouldve handed the money back to me to understand the arbitrary rule i wasnt getting. I had the worst experience with this restaurant. I am visiting my mom from out of state and my family ordered from them tonight on Christmas. I am vegan and ordered the masaman curry. There was no option to select tofu so I put tofu in the note and said no meat just to be safe. When the food arrived 3 hours later my dish had no tofu or veggies in it. It was just sauce with some diced potatoes for $16. That was it. I’ve had this dish 3x exactly as I ordered it in the past and it comes with green veggies and tofu when requested. The management refused to deliver my food again and only offered to refund my meal. I don’t care about $16. I had no dinner with my family tonight. The manager was rude and gaslighted me by saying that they didn’t include tofu because the word “add” wasn’t before the word “tofu”. I attached a screenshot.
