Gladhill Furniture Company — Attraction in Middletown

I love, love this store! My parents brought furniture here many years ago. Quality furniture, friendly staff. Having downsized from a single family home to a 2-bedroom condo, I needed to get rid of all my huge bedroom pieces & extra pieces I no longer needed. As I was looking around, I see the Stressless recliner. I sat in one. It was heaven! After a number of trips to Gladhill, (Teresa, my sales rep, was very patient), I not only opted to buy bedroom furniture but also to get rid of my old 20 year old something Lazy Boy living room furniture too and purchase Stressless furniture for the living room. First, I purchased a lovely set of Vineyard Creek furniture which included a queen size sleigh bed, a lamp stand, a night stand, and just the double dresser in the distressed wheat shade. It's gorgeous! Then I purchased my Stressless furniture. Why Stressless? Although Stressless furniture is modern, it's made to reduce pressure points on the body and is so comfortable. At my age, comfort is more important to me. My Stressless furniture includes the Nordic recliner with a Signature base with its respective ottoman for the feet, Then there is the high back Wave love seat sofa, the high back Wave 3-seat sofa, and the long ottoman that goes perfectly with it. The long ottoman does double duty with a removable top as a coffee table, and also has storage underneath. And THEN I was able to purchase a beautiful wool and viscose 8'x11' teal, olive green, black, and gold rug to go in the living room. The bedroom furniture is already here, and the living room furniture and rug will be here soon! I am so excited! It's hard for me to wait until I have my new furniture. After being dragged through every furniture in Baltimore and Frederick by my wife, I swore I would never go in another and that every piece of furniture I buy in the future will be online. Well as my wife takes my threats as a challenge I end up going to Gladhill furniture stomping, and pouting the whole way. As I walk into the store, a glow of light starts to sparkle around the building and all my grouchy feeling we’re just sucked out of me. I felt like I was floating on a magic carpet that just danced me through the store while blaring Metallica and showing me every piece of furniture I didn’t know I needed but couldn’t live without. Christina, the sales consultant, greeted us with a friendly “I know, right”?! She then glided along with us as we oohed and ahhed. As the 2 hours of decisions raced by in 10 min, we went home happy, no thrilled at what we found and bought. The anticipation of receiving our order had us questioning what exactly we bought and what patterns we chose and if we got the right size. Ugh!! Well today we got our first delivery and I could not be more impressed with the quality of the furniture, the comfort of the hand made chairs makes me want to take a nap after I get up from a nap. The rug, so beautiful, I will stand guard over it to make sure no muddy shoe or paw ever gets near.. The delivery guys were awesome and made sure all trash was removed and the pieces put in place just how we wanted. The only reason I did not give Gladhill a '5-star' rating is their delivery scheduling procedure. It is very rigid. Customers may only select a day from a choice of about 3 days. The TIME is always determined by Gladhill. In addition, the customer is only given approx 18-24 hours advance notice as to when the delivery will be.

So, for example, you may chose next Tuesday, but you will not know what time Gladhill has scheduled the delivery for until you receive an email on Monday afternoon around 2 pm.

As long as that is not an issue, I have no other reservations when it comes to recommending Gladhill to people looking for higher quality furniture.

They have a great selection of mfrs and styles, and the furniture is displayed very attractively.

Our sales associate was Andrew. He is very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Low pressure and helpful.

An added bonus is that the store is not in a crowded mall with potential traffic and parking problems. Gladhill is in historic Middletown in an interesting old, multi-floor building. There are a few parking spaces next to the front door, and plenty in back. It is fun to walk around Middletown and check out the homes, shops, and restaurants. There are also a few state parks nearby. It would make a nice day trip for a person/couple from D.C....
