So we order from here often. It's ussually ok, average chinese food not bad / not excellent. There online ordering system require's you to order your food and write in the comments section any alterations. After that if you choose to pay with a credit card they actually ask you leave that requested payment method in the comments section aswell. So obviously this is odd and inconvenient to begin with but we ussually just do it because they offer sushi which my girlfriend enjoys. Any ways we have gone threw this process many times. This time we put " pay with card / no vegetables in the fried rice in the comment section and wait for our call, after a while of waiting we decided they wernt going to call back (2nd time this has happened btw) so we call them. A young man answers the phone and seems confused and wasnt sure if we could pay over the phone... he seemed new we never heard him answer the phone before. So after being on hold and the confusion he passes the phone off to a girl who apologizes and takes the payment and tip. Within seconds of the call ending the driver arrives with the food ready to accept cash un aware we paid with a card over the phone. I explained we already paid and she had me sign a small piece of hand jotted paper. So again we always ask for No vegetables in the fried rice and this will be the 3rd time ( not back to back but sporadically) it has arrived incorrect. Normally we just deal with it and pick it all out and never say anything. This time we where a bit fed up and decided to call back and have it replaced. They seemed reluctant and even asked us if we would come and get it... obviously we said no she then said "soooo.... do you want us to bring you anothet one?"we said yes "let me see if we can do that" she says...we remained on hold for about 5 to 10 minute listening to the people in the background chatter and laugh not sure about what, but still they were able to be heard. After the long unperfessional style hold we were on she came back to say "sorry for that ok we can "exchange it" my boss was on the ipad checking. Which means they wanted to verify they were the ones at fault and i expect if we had ordered wrong they would have denied us the exchange (thats just my guess based off there behaviors). They proceeded to make an agreement that they would bring us a new one but they wanted the other fried rice back... lol. So anyways they brought the new rice and we gave them the old one. So all in all foods alright price is alright you wont die and they ussually do ok but obviously there is some work to be done when it comes to customer service and accuracy. And dont expect to be compensated in anyway if...
Read moreThis was my first time eating here, so I only ordered a few appetizers for carryout: Egg Roll Crispy Crab Meat & Cheese Puff Chicken On Stick Pork Fried Rice The egg roll was good but not spectacular. The seasoning was very mild, and I prefer a bit stronger flavor. The shell was light and crispy, fried to perfection, and was the best part of this item. The CCM&C puff was far better than I expected. In fact, the best I've ever had, and I've been eating this appetizer for 40+ years. The ratio of crab to cheese was perfection, the flavors blended together and complemented each other beautifully. As with the egg roll, the shell was light and crispy and absolutely perfect. I'm trying to avoid using the word "perfect" too much, but these puffs are so good that they should be on everybody's bucket list. These alone can change your day from bad to good. The chickstick was excellent. Again, very light on the seasoning, but I LIKE the taste of chicken, and this chicken was wonderful. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Portion size was very good, too - nothing skimpy about these sticks. The pork fried rice was good but very light on the seasoning (are you sensing a theme here?). It came loaded with onion, peas and carrots, and there was a generous amount of pork, too, so it's visually appealing if you take it out of its box. The flavor was good, but if you eat this alongside something with a strong flavor, like maybe a curry, you might not even be able to tell that there is any flavor. The texture was good, though. Not the slightest bit of mushiness.
I had take out, so all I can rate the service on is whether it was ready on time (it was) and whether the person who took my money and handed me my food was friendly and pleasant (she was). Same thing for appearance. I didn't spend an hour in the restaurant looking at multiple aspects or checking out the restroom, but the decor was very nice and "calming", and it was very clean - counters, tables, floors,...
Read moreMy GF suggested we order Asian Cafe. I haven't had the best food from them in the past but little did I expect what happened this evening.
After driving home with our carry out order, my GF noticed that her Teriyaki Chicken with wok seared vegetables resembled (and tasted like) a lean cuisine chicken breast. The primary difference is this lean cuisine meal cost over $13.
My GF, is not prone to complaining about poorly prepared food, decided to call. The young man who answered the phone said that the description on the website (where my GF ordered online) "probably wasn't accurate." She requested a refund at which point he asked how much of the meal she had eaten. She stated "barely any...do they want me to drive my food back to get a refund?" As he started to make more excuses she interrupted him stating "nevermind...just tell the owners I won't be back."
I have attached a photo of this meal which does not in any way resemble asian cuisine and which clearly shows steamed vegetables. Asian Cafe shouldn't be in business if they are going to prepare meals that do not match their descriptions online then argue about their customers when they call them on it. I have lived in Middletown 35 years and have never had a professional eatery treat me or my significant other this way.
I would not recommend going here. Go to China Garden in Frederick (great people and even greater good) or Thai Meric (another great establishment) also in Frederick. Go here if you want a poor meal and acerbic teenagers giving you grief for calling to report...
