Centennial Park — Attraction in Midland

Love this place! I feel safe here, very important! Theres a splash pad for my kids and a community cart with different toys for anyone to use (frisbees, giant jenga blocks, bean bag toss) theres chess tables, a large grass are AND theres a separate dog area so I love that I dont have ti worry about my kids playing in nasty grass that dogs have done their business on. Theres a path wrapping around the entire park if you want to walk, run, or ride a bike. Sometimes there are people there selling food, but rarely. First timer to Midland here - and please, someone help me understand why anyone went to the trouble to make a park so hostile for dogs. Why even bother building a dog park if you’re going to fill it with gravel that will burn paws 6 months of the year? There seems to be more than enough water for the football field sized grass park 10 feet away (where dogs aren’t even welcome to walk).
