Visiting from Alaska and decided to check out a local gym!
First and foremost - THERE IS AN UPSTAIRS. You can’t miss it, yet somehow I did. I modified my workout because I didn’t see any cable machines. As I was looking around for cardio equipment, that’s when I saw the stairs that led to a medley of other equipment - including the cardio equipment.
It’s not the largest gym I’ve been to. The lower half is sort of cramped and could easily become crowded during heavy traffic hours. Upstairs was a little bit better in this regard, but still.
The day pass wasn’t unreasonable at $20. It was easy to get one, as well. The monthly rate seemed a little high to me at $79 but I’m unfamiliar with the area, so maybe that’s not a fair assessment.
I got a shirt that came in purple (my favorite color) which was a win, and the complimentary theraguns by the door are a nice touch.
I like bodybuilding/powerlifting gyms; I go to one at home. I don’t know if this one would be the gym for me, though.
Knocking the a star off because I’m not a huge fan of the peloton treadmills in there (a pearl clutching statement, I know) and the Spotify slander on the wall next to the tablet for music selection. I take...
Read moreLynndsey and Zac have brought to the Salt Lake Valley a gym that cannot be rivaled. Sure, there are some decent gyms that specialize in bodybuilding, powerlifting, or weightlifting; but no gym around specializes in all three, like Big Mountain Barbell, and at such a high level. For the weightlifters, there are plenty of Eleiko and Rogue bars, Eleiko and Pendlay plates, pulling blocks, jerk blocks, squat stands, and 5 platforms to work with. For the powerlifters, there are multiple deadlift platforms, squat racks, benches, squat/bench combo racks, monolifts, pound and kilogram plates, and specialty bars to work with. People of all fitness backgrounds can enjoy the leg presses, glute ham raise, reverse hyper, cable machines, dumbbells, kettlebells, belt squat machine, sleds on the turf area, plyo boxes, sandbags, maces, Concept 2 rowers, assault bikes, and Peleton Treadmills. Finally, the atmosphere is perfect. No where else will you see beginners mingling with national level weightlifters, record holding powerlifters, national level bikini competitors, and great coaches that all show each...
Read moreHands down my favorite gym in the State! First impression- clean, spacious, lots of well maintained and high end equipment, and people who know what they are doing in a gym. This was intimidating to me coming from the Planet Fitness world but I soon found every member was kind, eager to help, and incredibly welcoming. Their coaches were able to tailor a training and nutrition program that worked for me with ZERO prior athleticism and a truly dysfunctional relationship with food. I’ve made life long friends, put on lots of muscle, lost fat (25 lbs!), and found a sport I absolutely love. Props to the way they handled Covid-19, I was so happy to have the ability to rent equipment for home use by continuing my membership dues during state mandated closure. I’ve been able to continue training at home during the quarantine with the support of the owners and the free programming they...
