Veteran's Park is located in Milwaukee's beautiful and well maintained Lake side park. It is both a visually stunning and busy place. There are boat docks, swan boat rides, a kite shop that hosts movie nights in the summer for families, there is very simple food at the kite shop as well. A Collectivo coffee shop is across the street from the park. Local talent perform during the summer at Collectivo. There is a ice cream shop in Lake park that serves burgers and other hand held foods. There are well kept beaches that are marked to let you know if it is safe to use the lake. Volleyball is a big draw. On the beach there are tiki huts that serve alcohol and there is more food available at the Bradford Beach main pavilion. Hiking and biking are available near the beach. This is a family friendly park. There are paved walkways that are level and friendly for people with physical challenges. Near the museum, The Discovery Center, Summer Fest and The Betty Brinn's Children's Museum. Street and parking garage parking available. Bike friendly. Read moreOne of the prettiest of parks, best for hiking, biking, scootering, kite flying, people watching, photography! Starting at the east end of Brady Street, walking down the bluff and heading south towards downtown on paved walkways and parkland. Watch out for Canadian goose poop, which is abundant on the grass and some of the pathways. Large lagoon on the west side of the paths, and Lake Michigan to the east. One of many fabulous trails along the Lakefront. If it's too windy or open (for agoraphobics), stick to the Oak Leaf bike trail at the bottom of the bluff, just west of Lincoln Memorial Drive; head north and you'll find yourself wrapped in a tree & bush lined canyon (poetic canyon, y'all!), that leads to the trails along the Milwaukee River, entirely different universe than the Lakefront. Heading south on this trail (actually, an old railroad right of way turned into an 8 foot wide asphalt path) takes you to the War Memorial and Art Center. The only things missing are more numerous permanent benches or chess tables with seating (as are often...

Clean, large bathrooms located in the small pavilion just east of the parking lot (off Lagoon Drive). Next to the bathrooms is a covered area with open picnic tables. (On Google Maps the bathrooms/covered picnic tables are the roof east of the parking lot, fairly close to the lake.)
Parking in the lot and along the roads is free, except possibly during some special events. West of the parking lot is the small store Gift of Wings, which has kites to rent or buy, as well as an offering of burgers, snacks and Chocolate Shoppe ice cream (think Blue Moon and Superman). Next door is a stand where you can rent kayaks, paddle boats and various bicycle contraptions for use in the lagoon and around the park.
Walkways are wide and paved and include the Oak Leaf trail. Gorgeous views along the lakefront of our magnificent city. Yeah, I said it....
