I usually don't write reviews. Hence, 2 days late already. On 05/15, I had a 1 hour ((3PM to 4PM) skateboarding learning lesson scheduled for $75. Being a month new to skateboarding I was really excited whole last week for the same. Coming to the day, I was driving from Beaverton and the plan was If I like it, I would opt in for punch cards and be a regular.
Though on the day of travel I left at 2PM from Beaverton and it said 38 minutes to reach. But, while driving on the highway I guess a wreck happened and all lanes got closed. I was stuck and the ETA switched from 38 minutes like close to 1 hour 45 minutes. In the meantime I was in touch with facility and giving them updates that I am stuck on a highway and If they can adjust me in another time slot 4PM-5PM that very day or even next week anytime (they had open slots at the time for next Monday). All I got was "I am sorry, can't do.". I never asked for a refund cz let's be honest it doesn't make sense. I was just trying to get re-placed to a different slot but, guess that's not gonna happen per them.
How well do they teach? I guess I'll never know. Cz if that's how you treat your customers in a customer service industry that too for something that was literally not in anybody's hands. A wreck happened on the highway and lanes were closed.
Respect your customers so that you retain them and not repel. Business 101.
-------------------------UPDATE----------------------- Within a few hours Jamie from Stronger Skatepark reached out and explained me "hows and whens" of what happened. Due to the contractual nature of coaches it's hard for them to re-adjust. I wasn't made of aware of it initially. Jamie sure was a professional and handled the situation pretty well. He later compensated my missed lesson by putting me in a learning lesson class and one punch card.
Hence, I am...
Read moreI recently got back into skating after taking 15+ years off. Stronger is such a welcoming environment to ALL ages, skill level, gender, everyone! The staff there are great and I’ve had some awesome conversations with them. I was going here pretty regularly for awhile but life got a bit busy but plan on coming in more often. I enjoy watching all the killer clips on their Instagram as well. You can tell these people care a lot about this space. I’ve done one group lesson session as well and enjoyed having the freedom to try tricks in a judgement free zone. All the coaches were great and Jamie helped me get over my fear of doing a rock to fakie on the 3 foot quarter pipe. Their shop has a nice selection of skate gear and apparel as well and very competitive to bigger online shops. There’s a good amount of variety with the obstacles as well. The almost 1 hour drive from Hillsboro is worth it. Hopefully someday we see a Stronger open up on the west side even if it’s a small bowl or half pipe ;)
If you haven’t already check this place out as the biggest public indoor skatepark in the...
Read moreI like that this park exists. Seems to be a community-oriented group of people running this thing. The skate shop is cool and I think this place deserves to be supported to ensure their continuity.
That being said... This park is very difficult to skate. To the point that I would say it is almost dangerous. There are ramps/obstacles scattered throughout the park, it is crowded and there is little to no flow. They allow anything with wheels in the park, so the combination of BMW bikes, scooters, and skateboards creates a chaotic atmosphere. Young kids do not have the awareness to safely share a crowded/small skatepark, so you really have to be on the lookout. I will say the mini ramp is ultra fun - nearly perfect...
Again, I like that this park exists and I will continue to support these guys during the wet season, but the park badly needs a re-design and...
