Bdé Umáŋ "Other Lake" Ancestral native land the Dakota people- Directional Bike Lanes.

Pedestrian walking path paved.

Free parking on drive parkway surrounding entire Lake.

Parkway is one way so… 2.9 miles and you’re back where you started. The drive- is a picturesque postcard with the little Mpls skyscrapers in the backdrop.

Good for those on Drivers Permits, Learning to drive. I went here to learn parallel parking and 90 degree reverse parking in the paid lots.

Seriously- the public parks so ridiculously here, along the parkways of there chain of lakes…. Why? You will out perform the licensed drivers with parking moves and at least the learning permit drivers have the excuse of learning! The Park Police are kind and love to help. They have labelled suvs.

It is perfect. 20mph.

One way. Almost as if Plymouth test course was designed after this Sunday drive at the lake. 6:30 am daily weekday yoga free til September Weekends call time for free yoga is now 8 am Yoga is off the sidewalk in front of the bandshell. The space of grass between the water and the shelter.

Yoga is taught by volunteer yoga teachers from studios in the local area. It is never the same. So if you don’t wake up on the right side of your mat post practice Meet a new practice through a different teachers guidance the following morning. Bandshell has pay parking and a Cafe- Bread & Pickle open daily - until 8 pm. Sunday has 2 live music performances at noon and. 6pm Sunday Market all summer until Aug.27 2:30 pm-6:30 pm at bandshell.

Public restrooms inside shelters. And bifs Between playground park and bandshell are public grills and picnic tables and a shelter for changing// no shower facilities.

Trolley rides for $3. On a historic restored street car. Check days . Minnesota streetcar Museum, also has a depot in Excelsior. Off Hwy 7. is a lake in the southwest part of Minneapolis, just south of Bde Maka Ska and north of Minnehaha Creek. A gem for non motorized activities. Linden Hills neighborhood adjacent. Strolling the lake is my dad’s favorite spontaneous activity to cure any funky day. What should we do? Try it- Yoga everyday for free in front of bandshell with Lake Harriet Yoga Project. M-F 6:30am Weekends at 8am Strolling there lake takes under an hour. Or an hour. For anyone. Tykes on balance bikes… foot pedaling. A stop half way to dip and continue. An hour. A walk over the trolley tracks and right to the stores … a visit to two or three— and walk back… 2.5 hours parking, ‘cause YOU SHOULD STOP AND TAKE THE TROLLEY IF IT IS RUNNING. Or that, park and stroll to Linden Hills would be an hour. Play tennis. There is even a hidden Troll. Or Mahical Elf in a Tree along the 2.9 miles of paths surrounding Her waters.

A Bird Sanctuary is here (fenced in/no dogs) The Rose Garden for the UofM The Peace Gardens. Sail boats. As always Pack in and Out your trash. The beautiful water is this way because we protect her together. Oh some people just rave about a top down drive around the lake …. Viewing the historic and prestigious homes of original settlers of Mpls. Bakker Museum is down here off a quick side street turn detour. Quite spectacular. Shhh. Wake the Lake Lockness with a Motor. The depth is 85 feet and the water has (knock on wood) not once been an irritant for my spawn and I. We are regular quick lake jumpers and have issues with swimmers itch regularly in the twin cities. Thank your neighbors here- they refuse the pollutants for their green grass and thus, they keep our water clean for our bodies. Thank you.

I swam of South Beach on 1st Sunday of June in the morning. Open water . No googles. Suit. Not wet suit. Spawn waded- following ducks. waist deep in sandals . We did a water rinse from water we had in kids legs . Towel dried.

No swimmers itch no red eyes. June 2023 Water quality was fantastic. We can keep it clean.

Minneapolis Parks and Rec does LifeGuard this Lake. I am not sure if South is guarded in the summer but… beach by Bandshell is...

What a fantastic lake. It's round and full of water! I bet there are even fish in it. Sail boats and big beautiful houses surround it, help me feel inadequate and out of place driving around it in my 1994 buick skylack my grandfather left me god rest his soul. There is a rose garden, and bird sanctuary. I also seen a turtle 🐢 trying to cross the road, it was missing its back legs and I suspect it was in sort sort of squabble with a city coyote or maybe a badger...either way it was incredibly depressing and I am back to taking my zoloft...

Scenic Spot with Boats, Planes, and City Views

Besides watching small sailboats, airplanes landing, and the stunning city skyline, the surrounding residential area is filled with increasingly luxurious homes—each one more impressive than the last. ⛵️🚣‍♀️🚤

The layout is thoughtfully designed: the inner path is perfect for jogging and leisurely walks, while the outer lane is dedicated to a one-way bike path. 🚴🏼🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️ It’s a well-organized space where everyone can enjoy their...

Absolutely gorgeous lake. I was visiting Minnesota. This lake is near my brother's home and I went here twice during my Thanksgiving visit to walk around it. It's so peaceful, calm and serene. I enjoyed every moment around it. My fitbit said it was 2.75 miles around the whole lake which took me 50 minutes my first day and 45 minutes my second day. I would say I had a pretty good walking speed going so if you're going for a leisure walk, expect to walk a little longer.
