Good for those on Drivers Permits, Learning to drive. I went here to learn parallel parking and 90 degree reverse parking in the paid lots.
Seriously- the public parks so ridiculously here, along the parkways of there chain of lakes…. Why? You will out perform the licensed drivers with parking moves and at least the learning permit drivers have the excuse of learning! The Park Police are kind and love to help. They have labelled suvs.

Off Hwy 7. is a lake in the southwest part of Minneapolis, just south of Bde Maka Ska and north of Minnehaha Creek. A gem for non motorized activities. Linden Hills neighborhood adjacent. Strolling the lake is my dad’s favorite spontaneous activity to cure any funky day. What should we do? Try it- Yoga everyday for free in front of bandshell with Lake Harriet Yoga Project. M-F 6:30am Weekends at 8am Strolling there lake takes under an hour. Or an hour. For anyone. Tykes on balance bikes… foot pedaling. A stop half way to dip and continue. An hour. A walk over the trolley tracks and right to the stores … a visit to two or three— and walk back… 2.5 hours parking, ‘cause YOU SHOULD STOP AND TAKE THE TROLLEY IF IT IS RUNNING. Or that, park and stroll to Linden Hills would be an hour. Play tennis. There is even a hidden Troll. Or Mahical Elf in a Tree along the 2.9 miles of paths surrounding Her waters.
A Bird Sanctuary is here (fenced in/no dogs) The Rose Garden for the UofM The Peace Gardens. Sail boats. As always Pack in and Out your trash. The beautiful water is this way because we protect her together. Oh some people just rave about a top down drive around the lake …. Viewing the historic and prestigious homes of original settlers of Mpls. Bakker Museum is down here off a quick side street turn detour. Quite spectacular. Shhh. Wake the Lake Lockness with a Motor. The depth is 85 feet and the water has (knock on wood) not once been an irritant for my spawn and I. We are regular quick lake jumpers and have issues with swimmers itch regularly in the twin cities. Thank your neighbors here- they refuse the pollutants for their green grass and thus, they keep our water clean for our bodies. Thank you.
I swam of South Beach on 1st Sunday of June in the morning. Open water . No googles. Suit. Not wet suit. Spawn waded- following ducks. waist deep in sandals . We did a water rinse from water we had in kids legs . Towel dried.
No swimmers itch no red eyes. June 2023 Water quality was fantastic. We can keep it clean.

Sail boats and big beautiful houses surround it, help me feel inadequate and out of place driving around it in my 1994 buick skylack my grandfather left me god rest his soul. There is a rose garden, and bird sanctuary. I also seen a turtle 🐢 trying to cross the road, it was missing its back legs and I suspect it was in sort sort of squabble with a city coyote or maybe a badger...either way it was incredibly depressing and I am back to taking my zoloft...
