Clarifying my review following a thoughtful reply from the owner: Ordered a cortado for here, not to go (i.e. I wanted it in the correct glass cortado cup, which I saw on top of the espresso machines). Seeing these glasses out in the open is typically a good sign at a coffee shop. Unfortunately I received a drink that was not a cortado and not in a proper glass cup. It was basically a cappuccino, all foam, and served in a paper to-go cup. The velvety combination of correctly steamed milk poured into espresso was not here. My wife ordered a tea and we were told after ordering and paying that it would be a 10 minute wait. A brew time of 5 minutes is expected and normal, so this was twice as long as expected. There were no other orders or people ahead of us. The cafe had maybe 10 people in it, but everyone had been there for a while. The issue was that the barista was the only employee at the location. So they had to handle other matters happening in the store. It's understandable to be short-staffed, but it can be handled better. Employees could provide guidance ahead of orders being committed. "Hey, before you order, I want to let you know that I'm the only one here so it might take 10 minutes for drinks. If you can't wait, I can do an iced coffee or iced tea quickly."

This neighborhood coffee shop is a delight. It's tastefully decorated, has excellent coffee, albeit on the pricier side, and the treats were delicious as well. We tried 2 different cookies and the baklava and they were all very tasty. We were happy to pay a little more for the quality, service, and atmosphere. It's calm and cozy inside and my husband and I were able to hold a conversation without ever having to raise our voice. The other customers were respectful as well. The vibe of the place is really nice. Most coffee shops close early, but Shortwave is open for afternoon coffee, which is when we like to have ours. We will definitely be back!

This coffee house is a gem located in a Minneapolis neighborhood. Tastefully decorated, with plenty of seating and quiet enough for conversation. A good place to sit and relax, read a book, check your emails or talk to your significant other. Muran, the owner and barista, is personable and skilled. Quite a conversationalist and is willing to explain the sourcing of his coffee beans and how he became a barista. The breve cappuccino was excellent, silky smooth and the coffee was not bitter, and was served in a proper ceramic cup. There is a small selection of pastries and other food offerings. Definitely worth the trip.
