UPDATE: Farmer Dean reached out directly to me and offered support to get it moving along so changing the rating to 4/5 here. I appreciated his communications and openness - just shows how much they care and how this feels like not a normal experience. Unfortunately, at that point, we had already moved on and moved money to other winter focused house projects but will go back to try again once we save enough to come back to our landscaping for next year. We still also continue to go for all of our plant needs and signed up again for their CSA since it was so lovely.

I will start by saying that the garden center is so adorable and lovely. We love coming by to look at all the plants. We've bought indoor and outdoor plants. The staff is so helpful with questions on plant care and even helped us put together a beautiful arrangement for a pot on my front steps. We also get the weekly CSA from them and love that too. Went on the farm tour and the work they do is amazing.

The low review is for the landscape services. We started back in the spring and it has been an extremely slow process. Our designer has noted her busy-ness, but it does not make it any easier. We were lenient in the first few months, as we were busy too, but it has consistently taken weeks to get a response. We have to follow-up multiple times and when they say something will be shared, it is never in our inbox. When you pay hundreds of dollars for a design, it gets tiring to have to email 4-6 times to get a response so we've given up. If they are too busy to take on new clients, then they should be honest upfront and recommend another spot. I really wish we could feel confident to have them do the work but at this point, we don't. We've been trying to get our slightly updated design and budget estimate to move to next steps since July 23 and it is now September. We've tried calling the shop and emailing the head of the landscape group as...

Being an avid gardener in the metro area for over 24 years, this spring was my first visit. I’d heard they were voted the best garden center in Minneapolis but only came in pursuit of several unusual varieties that I couldn’t locate elsewhere.

Their angle wing begonias, verbena, Dahlias, Itoh peonies, are super healthy, on strong roots, and come in the varieties I was seeking.

It is all the more impressive that their plants, vegetables, and shrubs are largely homegrown. I cannot imagine anyone doing a better job with product and presentation in the size of space they have here in Minneapolis.

Honestly, I’ve never paid so much for a planter base saucer – and I have never LOVED one so much! In fact, after checking 7 locations, no one else had one of this 18 inch size and weight. I needed a strong, resilient, water-catching saucer. It’s perfect!

I saw so many fun gift ideas, as well as the best selection of water fountains that I’ve found in the Twin Cities this spring. The staff knows their product and was supper helpful both times I’ve gone now. I’ve read up on Dean Engelmann and Scott Endres, the owners and am impressed with their passion to pass on and live out this way of preserving the land and natural gardens for future generations.

I learned that Tangletown Gardens' has a100-acre farm & greenhouse center in Plato, Minnesota – I’d love to visit sometime. Parking is sufficient. This garden center is an absolute gem. I highly recommend it to all garden enthusiasts. They are generous people: teaching, donating to the University of Minnesota horticulture department, offering farm tours, and supporting local grassroots initiatives. I’m pleased to give them...

My friend signed us up for a container planting workshop as a way to celebrate my birthday. I have seen Tangletown Gardens when I’ve eaten at Wise Acre, which is fabulous BTW, but the day of the workshop was my first time inside. First of all, what a fun shop! So many unique items ranging from plants to home decor to gifts. Best thing.... a potting area to create your own planter. Love that!

The workshop was wonderful. Coming through the greenhouse doors we were offered coffee and/or mimosas. Yes, my kind of workshop! I’m leery of houseplants. They pretty much hate me and die just to get away from me. 🤷🏻‍♀️ All my fears were laid to rest. The workshop was informative and excellent direction was given in planting. In addition, the selection to choose from in plants and filler pieces was more than I could imagine. it’s been almost a month and my plants are still alive and actually thriving. Success!

A sure sign it was a successful workshop was that I went back today to buy another plant. I’ll call this...
