Order: 2 Diana Ross breakfast sandwiches (provolone + all the veggies + veggie cream cheese) + a baker's dozen
The Good: Oh wow, my son and I loved these sandwiches. They were flavorful, they didn't skimp on veggies (there was an egg, sprouts, tomatoes, green peppers, onions, lettuce, pickled jalapenos, black olives, and cucumbers). The texture and flavor of these bagels is really nice.
The Not So Good - They didn't get our baker's dozen order right (I ordered 3 sun dried tomato - there were a ton in the basket, but when I opened the bag at home, pulled out three plain bagels), which was truly disappointing. It would be great if someone grabbed a bag and put them in as you said them so you can see what's happening as you make your order and/or repeat the order back to you.
And while they wrapped our delicious sandwiches in tin foil (liked that), they didn't give us any napkins! This is definitely a COVID problem, but things dripped all over us as we at our sandwiches on a sliver of grass next to our car. If you take a menu item to go, it would be great to receive napkins, at a minimum. Shouldn't have to ask. If it's a to-go order, give. customers. napkins. (And if you're trying to be eco-friendly, then perhaps train staff to ask if you need napkins.)
On COVID safety precautions: I'd commend them on this area (watched them make s.o. without a mask stand outside and pay) but would also let people know they have a 1 person/party rule right now. I had a moment where I wondered what that might mean for someone with a baby under two, or really any child you don't feel comfortable leaving on a sidewalk (on a busy city street) and feel important to let people know since I personally drove in from a different city and they don't list anything about these new rules/regulations on their site. Not a critique, just an FYI, sure things...
Read moreThe St.Paul Bagelry in Mpls - What a fun little bagel shop ! Super fresh bagels for the whole family- no rubbery eggs pulled from the freezer here- they have a griddle where they fry the eggs to order. We enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast bagel called the Donna Ross- we ran into a customer on our way in, she had her arms full of bagels and said the cream cheese here was really good- a must try, so I scoped the menu to find a bagel that included it and went with the Dianna Ross- yummm- garden veggie cream cheese, Swiss cheese and loaded with all the veggies- including jalapeños. My son went with the classic breakfast sandwich called the Isaac Hayes - a plain bagel, with an egg, bacon, provolone cheese and real butter - he loved it and said “mom, we have to come here and get this again” . They also have a full on espresso machine so I couldn’t leave without trying a latte. Perfection. What makes this place fun is the music - next to the espresso machine they have record player and play vintage vinyl records of soul, jazz & funk. Try it, you won’t be disappointed- the perfect place for a mother son breakfast before summer camp. Thanks St.Paul Bagelry in Minneapolis for making our...
Read moreSeriously, what's not to love about this place?!? It is such a well thought out restaurant that can appeal to all tastes, literally and figuratively. Whether you are in need of some breakfast goodies for a morning work meeting or to meet someone for lunch, we love what they offer their customers. Heck, I would even suggest this as a great place to go for brunch on a first date. Beyond the atmosphere and what they offer, the quality of their menu options is exceptional. I love the lox. Then again, you simply can't go wrong with a standard bagel and cream cheese. Something so simple is packed with flavor here. Their cream cheese might be our weakness because we like putting it on our sandwiches at home now. I'm throwing it out there as an idea, but I would love to see this place so cooking classes Sunday because..... Who doesn't love...
