Mary Gibbard Park — Attraction in Mishawaka

We had never been here before, but found it by searching for “bike parks.” The main part with the playground, pavilion and water features for the kids looks really nice, but we didn’t use those features on our visit. The bike section is for the advanced rider who has a high level of fitness and/or youthful energy. It has lots of high jumps, hill climbing and switchbacks. The track itself is poorly maintained at the moment. There are lots of ruts, weeds and bits of trash all over. This park is really a beautiful park. I did not get to enjoy all of the things this park had to offer on my first visit, but I will definitely come back to enjoy it. The reason for 4 of 5 stars is the terrain of the playground surrounding the splash pad. After being in the water, then stepping onto the sharp mulch and hurting my feet. I tried to step onto the rubbery surface, which was really hot from the sun. 😅 I am not knowledgeable in playground surface so I have no better suggestions, but ouch. I really enjoy walking around Mary Gibbard Park it’s so quiet, clean and simply beautiful. I go to the riverwalk a lot but one day I was visiting my sister and stumbled upon this park and I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of it. It’s nice to stop and enjoy the little things in life, with the Covid19 I’ve learned to enjoy the small things in life because we never know when our times up.
