i’ve been a loyal patron of Bonnie Doon since i was a child. it stands as one of my favorite restaurants ever, and my favorite diner overall. that said, i was incredibly disappointed with the service my fiancée and i received this afternoon. we walked up to the restaurant and we wanted to dine outside, so we went up to one of the carhops and ordered (this is how we’ve always ordered when eating outside). we placed our order, two sandwich baskets, one ice cream cone, dine in. then we sat at a table between the carhops. in the time we spent waiting, we watched people who arrived after us get their orders before we did, and we watched people wait so long for their orders that they left in frustration. we waited for thirty minutes and hadn’t been helped or even spoken to, at which point my fiancée stopped an employee and asked if we could get our drinks. another five min went by and we still didn’t have drinks. my fiancée finally went inside to ask what was up — our server had seen that there was no car parked at the carhop we ordered from, and assumed we left. another employee mentioned that the standard would have been to come outside and check before just assuming. when i spoke with our server, she mentioned that usually when people come up to dine outside with no car, they sit at a table until they’re served — but again, nobody had ever stopped to serve us, either. our food was finally brought to us cold in a to go bag, and neither of our sandwiches were made properly (my chicken sandwich was completely plain, my fiancée’s chicken cordon bleu sandwich consisted of four small chicken tenders thrown sloppily between two buns w some melted cheese). i spoke up about my sandwich, and i was told that it’s always made plain unless specified otherwise (though i wasn’t asked upon ordering what ingredients i wanted on my sandwich if any, and have never needed to be specific in the past about this menu item), but i didn’t want to argue and just asked if she could bring ketchup and mustard, which i then never received. i didn’t want to make it a big deal, but as we sat for over five min waiting for the server to return with our debit cards and my condiments, i decided that i should say something, because my eating experience should be worth my time and money. so we waited to eat, and when our server came back and i was signing my receipt, i very calmly and politely expressed that we come to this restaurant often, that the food and quality of service were not what we were anticipating, and that we had been disappointed and frustrated by this. she stepped away to speak with a supervisor, and when she returned, the solutions she gave were that she could either have our food fully remade, which would be another 40-60min wait, or she could bring me the extra ingredients i wanted on my sandwich and i could finish assembling it myself. i was extremely dissatisfied with both of these options, but we were already very behind on our own schedule, as we hadn’t planned to spend over an hour waiting and eating, so i settled for the latter. the most frustrating things that happened here, to me, were (in no particular order) ; the fact that when we arrived there was a large party of older folks seated a couple of tables away, and they were being helped and served the entire time we waited to be served through to after we left (while other people aside from us weren’t receiving service to the point of giving up and leaving) ; when asked if our orders were “for here or to go”, we both very clearly said “for here” (this distinction matters to me specifically because when you order a basket for dine in, they put your sandwich in the basket and then fill the basket the rest of the way with fries — for a togo “basket”, you only get a small fry ) ; and the utter lack of prioritization of customer satisfaction. i would’ve felt even a little bit better if for the inconvenience we were so much as offered an extra small fry or ice cream, or a coupon, anything. but no. whenever we return, we’ll be dining inside. i very much hope to change my...
Read moreWe got there, ordered promptly (ice cream cones - no hot food) and was told they'd be right out. We sat there waiting while another vehicle pulled up, ordered and were served. We pressed the button again to ask if they'd forgotten our order and we were told they were closed. We acknowledged that, but advised them we had already ordered 15 minutes prior. We waited longer with no response while watching three employees walk out of the establishment and get into a vehicle. Finally a young lady came out to take our order (again). We received no apology and she acted irritated the entire time. I have been going to various Bonnie Doon locations since I was a little girl. It's an experience. As the only location still open, one would think that customer service would be a higher priority. They're kids, I get that, but additional training might be due... write orders down!; perhaps reminding them that they're at work, not at a social event, is overdue. This is the second time we've had to check in with staff re: the status of our order, both times having to reorder, and we've only been there twice this season. This is McDonald's-level service at the only location of a beloved local diner still open. I know you can do better because I've seen it and experienced...
Read moreI’ve been very disappointed this year visiting Bonnie Doons. Let me start out by saying, I’ve been coming here since a child and wanted to make a tradition with my kids. Out of the 5 times I’ve been in 2018, every single time something was wrong with my order. From being over charged on receipt for something that’s included in meal, burnt burgers, cold fries, slow service, mixed up orders and the most upsetting of all, was how rude the owner was when I called to complain about my recent visit! Not only did he talk over me, but actually hung up on me! I can’t believe how unprofessional he was towards me! You have officially lost my family’s business. I will not recommend anyone to go there unless the ownership changes. Furthermore, I will post this review in numerous places. I really hope the owner considers his attitude and how he speaks to people especially in this day and age. Please sell to an owner who actually cares about the customers and Bonnie Doon name and not how to steal from the customers pocket while...
