Our kids actually do love this place. Lots of fun things to do. Not long lines, though they are frequently busy. Very clean. Very imaginative and well-rounded. I love the bright colors, the areas of creative play, and the variety of things to do. I do recommend bringing a change of clothing because your kids will get wet in the water area. Its a great place to go on rainy or hot days to get out of the weather.
I will say Im dropping a star because of two things..
It seems like we have staff members following us around when we go. Yes, our boys are a little difficult, because they are on the spectrum and get super overstimulated when there are a lot of kids around, but it makes me feel like a bad mom when im being eyeballed and reminded to keep track of my kids frequently, even when im not looking at my phone. We do have two kids, so yea they do run in different directions and Im constantly having to run up and downstairs and all over the place trying to keep an eye on both of them. It is what it is, Im honestly trying my best, and we like to go during the weekdays when it isnt as crowded and dad is at work. The facility is two levels, so it leads to these kinds of situations with me not being able yo see both kids at all times. I wish there were two of me and I wish we had a nanny or a grandma nearby who could accompany us while dad is at work. But alas that is not our situation.
The price. I almost want to ask them if they are going to watch my kids for me if am having to PAY full price as an adult who is doing all the work trying to WATCH my kids.đđ But im not trying to be feisty like that. I know the staff members do not own the place or make the rules. But Im not playing on the equipment, this is not fun for me. Im sweating by the time we are done. And you would think the best thing to do in our situation would bring a second person, right? Well, that point, weâre spending $60. i may as well hire a babysitter to come to my house for the day and get a break đ I vote we dont make parents pay to get in so we can do all the work. That is all.
Aside from that, and all the stress that I feel when we go here, it is truly a wonderful place. Especially if you have kids that you can trust. Great also for kids who love sensory stuff. The water area is amazing and our favorite stop. Most of the staff members have honestly been very kind. And its not their fault that our kids have behaviors sometimes. I get it, they are just trying to do their job, but its also painful to always be reminded that your kids arent behaving themselves. I KNOW. Lol. We live with them, and are constantly working on it. Sorry if its a problem for everyone else, and the other parents out there, I get it. trulyâŚ.but we also cannot keep them locked up indoors at home all the time. Its a tough situation. And having a facility that is two levels just opens up to that situation, because you cant see them very well if they are running in different directions.
Maybe staff can be trained on how to handle things with kids in a good way so they can be there as a support to parents, not just to tell parents to come watch their kids. Maybe they can be second eyes and helpers, Esp if the parents are paying to get...
Read moreField trip We visited the museum with my daughterâs class. The bus arrived around 9:15AM parents who tagged along with no âextraâ kids were allowed in as an âexceptionâ but the few of us that had our other little ones were not allowed in until 10AM when it opened to the public.
Parents and kids over 1 are $15 each the area for the little ones was not open
There was 1 very helpful/interactive staff member and I wish I would have gotten his name. He lead the announcements and story time for the field trip group. He not only was very attentive to every area he was in but he also would stop and show the kids how to play in each station.
The grocery store and water area were my kids favorite areas.
The field trip lasted about an hour and 30minutes. Which for us parents who had to wait outside until 10AM went by very quickly.
For future field trips I would suggest a wristband for participating parents maybe at a field trip rate since the time is limited and allow the parents to enter once the class has arrived. We are there to follow the class and our child regardless if we have other children with us.
Personally our family enjoys Stockton museum for the price and...
Read moreWe decided to visit MoChiMu to help break up the drive between Yosemite back to San Francisco airport during our California road trip with our 5-year-old daughter during the last week of March. It was quiet because we visited on a Wednesday, and we were so delighted to get to spend some time chatting with the staff as we explored the various spaces in the museum. I wanted to leave a review specifically because I was so impressed by how clear it was that the staff love their jobs, are proud of the museum, and are passionate about encouraging play for all visitors - not just the kids! We felt so genuinely welcomed in the space, and we were glad for a reason to visit a cool little city surrounded by almond trees (thanks, California, for growing all my milk...) Other than our great interactions with staff, the facility itself was excellent - very clean, lots of different activities and ways to engage, and it was easy to spend 3 hours entertained there. Wishing the museum and team much success as you continue to roll out this awesome new resource for the greater Modesto...
