The Fox Pub — Restaurant in Modesto

What a strange experience..went in after looking at their online menu, and craving an ice cold beer. When I walked in, the music was so loud, it was like a nightclub on a Saturday night, which is perfectly fine. I just wasn't expecting it at 3 PM on a Thursday. The bartender and some customers seemed to be having a great time, but you could also tell the bartender was definitely drinking. That's not my issue though..

I sat down and ordered a beer as well as a house salad and chicken nachos.

My beer was fine ( a bottled Modelo, so nothing exciting) , but the food.... Holy hell .. I got the chicken nachos before the house salad, and the nachos took almost 20 mins to come out. I mean, it's nachos... When I got the nachos, I specifically got them because I was craving the toppings they listed on the menu. I was presented with a dismal handful of tortilla chips, that were covered in what looked like canned nacho cheese sauce, and the dryest chicken I've ever seen. Nothing else that was listed on the menu decription was on the nachos. I asked for the menu to make sure I read the description right and the dude who apparently worked there ( maybe in the kitchen or something) was legit DRUNK DRUNK, with bloodshot eyes and couldn't coherently answer me when I questioned the lack of toppings.

Side note, I also was told the salad was coming, after the nachos were dropped off, which is strange cause it's a SALAD.... Like nothing needs to be cooked.. anyway, I told them the nachos looked terrible and told them I'd just pay for my beer cause eff that "food" they tried to serve me. Never did see the salad!

My one measley beer ended up getting comped as well cause the bartender felt bad about the food. But I'm sure she knew the food was trash to even begin with.

Long story short, if you value your money and actually care about getting what you ordered, avoid this place at all costs. It was my first and absolute last time...

It was my first time going. I’m an Uber/Lyft driver and it was recommended that I go to the fox pub for fun, so I went with a couple of my girlfriends. Now, I’m no stranger to people discriminating me, avoiding me, or denying me services, when I go to public places. Sure enough, the bouncer at the door was a black guy who checked my friend’s ID’s, and then checked mine. The picture on my ID still looks male-like, and today I look more female-like. The bouncer then says, “Your ID is about to expire, and when it does, we are not gonna let you in this bar...just letting you know.” My friends were so confused when he said that to me because my birthday is not even until August!!! I told my friends that it’s something that I have to deal with everyday when I go out in public. We went in for about 5 mins, and then left to a different bar where they were, surprisingly, more welcoming! I’m sorry, but black people who discriminate against LGBTQ+ people, are no different from white people who discriminate against black people! My Instagram...

Just now was there. I would not recommend ever going back during night time. If this was on the show Bar Rescue. they would fail horribly. Uncoordinated all over the place. Air conditioner felling. First off we started by trying to order drinks which took a half an hour to get highly water down Bloody Mary okay that's not just the worst part try to get food and they completely ignore you and say will get it to you whenever they can. new people come in they serviced them because money's with alcohol and not the food I guess . End up paying for my Highly overpriced water and getting out of there as soon as possible. They could have made a lot more money off of me. They were highly understaffed and only have one waiter servicing the upstairs which was 95 degrees outside was actually cooler than inside. Should be addressed as soon...
