Guy On The Couch Cards & Gaming — Attraction in Monroeville

BE WARNED THAT GOTC DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!

I've been to the shop a couple times and generally had a good experience, but this most recent time has left quite the sour taste in my mouth. I bought an MTG unfinity land pack that was showing a foil land on the top of the stack in a sleeve all together. The rest of the lands in the pack were non foil and the pack was being sold for foil price ($15 for four lands.) Maybe I should've checked the rest of the cards in the pack, but that is some scummy practice right there. As a bonus, the pack was in the case which does make it harder to check the cards as when you ask for something in the card case, they take it to the register for you (which is normal practice but doesn't leave much chance to check prior to purchase.)

Wow. Just wow. What an absolutely horrid response. I acknowledged my mistake and you dogpiled on it? Way to treat your customers. A better response would've been "We are sorry you had a bad experience. What can we do to improve?" I didn't do anything to deserve your response except give you a bad rating that CAN BE CHANGED. I WAS willing to maybe forget it cause you guys do have a good selection of cards and other experiences had been good, but damn your attitude is awful and the rating is gonna stay where it is now.

I didn't refuse to check the cards, I wasn't even given a chance when the cards were taken straight from the case to the register (additionally they were in a sealed sleeve.) ALSO! Any normal person would see x4 on a package to mean x4 of the same thing. Not x1 of one thing and x3 of another. To whomever replied, learn some empathy, you are why the hobby...

This is hands down the best LGS I've ever been to! The Friday Night Magic events are absolutely incredible - just look at that turnout! (It's like this every week!) The community here is welcoming, competitive, and fun, and it's honestly the highlight of my week.

I have to give special shoutouts to Logan and River, who are two of the most helpful and knowledgeable employees I've ever encountered. They always go above and beyond to make sure everyone has a great experience, whether you're a new player or a seasoned veteran. Their passion for the game and dedication to the community really shows.

The store is well-organized, well-stocked, and creates an atmosphere where players of all skill levels feel welcome. If you're looking for a place to play Magic, Pokémon, One Piece, or Warhammer with an amazing community, this is it. I can't recommend this store enough!

Update (August 2025): I continue to shop here regularly and have consistently found their pricing to be fair and competitive. Just yesterday I preordered the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender MTG set - they're selling play booster boxes for $170 each when MSRP is $210. They're offering the same price for Spider-Man. This is typical of the value I've come to expect here.

This place was always super fun and Ive been going there since they were in the smaller shop; I shop there somewhat often, but usually only for singles and maybe a single pack or 2. However after reading reviews I am somewhat dissapointed, taking packs from kids? in PUBLIC? its a shame what the place has become. I knew there were rumors of this happening at target and other places but after reading reviews, seeing proof with my own eyes its honestly pathetic. Yes the BO3 on Saturday for Pokémon is fun but the prices ARENT, 150 for BLOOMING WATERS-? Saw it for 75 in retail stores. Im not hating on the store and love what they do and the opportunities that they can provide for younger kids and literally anyone that wants to pop in.
