Multiple issues my family and I had during our stay from August 11-13 at the Monroeville Hampton Inn on Mosside Blvd. I was looking forward to a great weekend away with my family, but it quickly turned into a mess from the moment we arrived and checked in. When checking in I was greeted by a rude front desk lady, extremely unwelcoming. She used the excuse for her behavior of it being Comic con weekend, saying this was the reason they were so overwhelmed. While I understand it may have been busy, it should not have been an excuse for the rudeness I was given, along with the fact that the hotel should have been prepared knowing it would be a busy weekend. After she begrudgingly found us a room, I went to check it out before bringing in our luggage. I discovered the air conditioner was filled with black mold and mildew. It was appalling and so I went back downstairs to the same receptionist. I was frustratingly huffed at by her when asking for a different room, she once again gave the excuse of it being comic con weekend, although eventually she gave me a different room. When going to check this new room, I opened the door to be hit with the stench of mold and mildew again, this time the room was even worse than the first. I went back downstairs, the same receptionist huffed at me as I explained this room had the same issue, the excuse of comic con weekend came out again (as if it was my fault that it was a busy weekend and the reason there was mold in the AC unit). At this point one of the other receptionists overheard our conversation, and she kindly offered to help with the situation. She took over and found us a new room, she went to check on it first but afterwards had to go up with bleach and wipes to clean the AC unit (which I find crazy that she has to do this, as it is not her responsibility). Finally after all this we had a room we could bring our luggage to. We brought our bags in and got settled, but as we got settled we started to notice other problems; dried blood on the bathroom door, mold in the shower corners, carpet stains, stained blankets, dried snots on the mattress, stains on the walls and doors, mold in the iron, dirt on the bathroom floor, and crumbs everywhere. We were also unable to take showers without the drain clogging and flooding in the bathroom. The issue that really put the icing on the cake happened while we were getting ready to go to sleep. My husband and son went to get the pull out couch ready to sleep on only to find that the mattress was covered in huge, what appeared to be urine stains. I called downstairs to see if anything could be done, the nice lady explained that while usually they had extra rooms for when issues like this occurred, but because it was comic con weekend there were no rooms she could offer for us. She did however apologize and offer us extra sheets and a large plastic bag for the mattress. At this point we had no other choice but to stay and sleep on the disgusting mattress or sleep in our car. Extremely disappointing. In general, the hotel had a dirty feeling to it. A few other issues to mention are the pool that was so cloudy/dirty that you couldn't see the pool stairs and the pool rooms emergency exits that were crusted shut or broken. My daughter went downstairs around 8:30 am on Saturday morning to get breakfast, she found a worker to tell them the waffle batter was empty, but was told there was no more and they did not refill anything. The whole experience, except the one sweet lady who cleaned the AC herself (I'm sorry I did not get her name), was a complete disappointment. I am so upset that I changed my original reservations at a different hotel to this one thinking that it would be a nice and relaxing experience for my family and myself. I truly hope these issues get addressed and that you do not lose more guests in the future. I attempted to email the hotel manager at the hotel and have not received any...

I must say that the only highlight of our stay was a very nice young receptionist who was trying to help us out. The other "night receptionist" was very specific and not pleasant at all. If you work in a hotel industry, you must have manners. And actually should like people which she was both missing. She stormed at a couple of parents who were still sitting in a lobby at midnight, turned off the lights and yelled. That is probably professional attitude here in Monroeville.

But lets start at the beginning. Hotel is so understaffed that they cannot manage the amount of guests at all. Check-in 30 minutes because all parents came after their kids' games and there was one receptionist working. Poor her actually, she had her hands full..

Rooms were dirty and I mean really dirty. No wonder if they do not have trained cleaning staff. They either did not show up at work or were brand new and did not know what to do. (Actually the manager told me when he was complaining about not having enough people.)

Bugs, luck of towels, key not working.... We were lucky, our room was just dirty but no bugs. Our friends had to have theirs cleaned again because there were insects crawling on the floor... Do they think that 2 towels is enough for 4 people? Electronic key did not work in some rooms.. Lobby full of Philadelphia fans screaming while watching baseball was not much fun either. And the best part was, that we got a letter under our door next morning that we need to be quiet after 11pm or we will pay penalty. Our son had a morning game, we were not partying around the hotel we were in bed.

Hilton Honors points - again, I asked to add my member nb. in our stay, the nice receptionist (Danell? Danielle? - sorry I forgot her name) did and asked me each day, if I can see it already in my account. Very sweet girl. What a suprise, that I still cannot see it there and got now points either? I am in contact with Hilton Honors trying to solve it.

So overall, never ever will we stay here again and apparently we are not welcomed there either. We received a letter that our team is not welcome back for future tournaments. "After gathering feedback from other guests, we do not think your team is a good fit for our property....." I wonder how could they know which parents were from which team if there were X different teams in a hotel. But who cares, this hotel is not a good fit for us either, we like clean hotels with professional staff. Then we do not mind paying the very steep prices they like to put up when there are hockey tournaments in their area or isn't 160USD for a night in a mediocre hotel a bit too much? Especially for the quality you get? The hotel is really bellow average and believe me, we travel a lot with our team. This was the worst so far... Hilton Group? Not at all..... That is a...

In the last 8 months I’ve spent about 8.5 weeks of my life in hotels, half of those between IHG hotels and the other half between the Hilton group hotels. There’s only one worse than this one so far. I’ll start off saying the front staff are very nice. That’s all fine and good, but when you’re staying 2 weeks in a room you’d rather the room be very nice, which these are not. I’m out here along with several others for work, a few of which are also at this hotel and are having the exact same experience as I am, which is what drove me to actually write a review. So, here it goes.

The location of this hotel is very strange. You have to basically pass this hotel and hook a weird turn into an office building lot then come around just to get in, and leaving is a very, VERY narrow turn which spits you out onto the main road which leads you onto the turnpike within 20 feet, it’s hard to explain but it’s weird. Second, the hotel just feels like it wasn’t actually meant to be a hotel. You’d understand what I mean if you see it inside. There’s pillars blocking the front desk, everything is old and either looks like it’s had shoddy repairs or needs it, including the elevators. The rooms are not quite clean, not quite disgusting. What I mean is there’s no bedbugs (thank goodness!) but there was hair in random places, the furniture was all covered in grime, the table/desk was sticky with grime (and I’m here for work), the fridge is broken so everything at the bottom freezes solid, the microwave somehow has mold between the glass, the AC is dirty, the paint is peeling off the ceilings, and there’s crusty stains on the carpet. To add to this, I was doing some paperwork and housekeeping was slamming the door cleaning the room next to mine so hard, and for 30 mins or so that I thought it was actually someone staying here and fighting with someone else (lol) until I checked. The mirror over the desk/table almost got knocked off the wall in here. I don’t know why they don’t just prop open the door when they clean, or clean earlier in the day, but it was 5pm. Anyway… The beds are TERRIBLE with the smallest, most uncomfortable pillows you’ll ever sleep on, and the wall has a tiny window with the res of it covered with a curtain (all the rooms are also apparently like this, and I have a corner room). Needless to say I’m sorry I didn’t stay elsewhere, but at this point I have no choice but to finish out my sentence here along with my comrades. I hope for everyone else’s sake they’re updating this one soon, because other Hampton Inn’s I’ve stayed at are definitely not...
