James Douglas Jewelers - Buy & Sell Gold, Diamond Engagement Rings — Attraction in Monroeville

Extremely overpriced. I had gone to James Douglas to have a watch battery replaced. The reason I chose to go to James Douglas is because of pure convenience: I live close by and I was going to Aldi's which is in the same shopping plaza. I entered the store and the clerk was pleasant and respectful. She verbally quoted a price for a new battery for my watch (which I paid less than $20 at Walmart; admittedly a cheap watch which I use for regular daily use) and I was shocked. The clerk quoted me a total price of $20 for a new battery! Keep in mind, I made this purchase several months ago, long before any supply chain issues which may have affected pricing. If it weren't that I was so exhausted running that day's errands, I would've taken my watch elsewhere as I recognized the price was very unreasonable (even if the watch were more costly). I did decide to just have James Douglas do it because I was too tired to go elsewhere. Sadly, though, I won't be a repeat customer as I will be more reasonable and frugal next time I need a watch battery. I was overcharged then for my last visit by $5.00 then. As far as the time period that I posted this review, please consider these facts: Google's Terms of Service does not set up parameters as to when a review may be submitted from the time of service/purchase. Why did it take me longer than most to submit my review? I limit my Internet activity and also it was not of extreme importance or priority to me to immediately submit a review. I put a lot of thought and consideration (and care) into my reviews as its something I don't take lightly in doing.

Last year my fiancé and I were looking at engagement rings and met Jennifer. Little did I know, my soon to be fiancé had already purchased a ring for me. So fast forward to now as we are looking for wedding bands, we immediately thought to go see Jennifer at James Douglas Jewelers. The reason we not only remembered her, but wanted to have her in this process with us, was simply because of her kindness, professionalism, honesty, and you can immediately tell when you meet her that she is truly a genuine person. When we walked in, she remembered us. I found a band and fell in love with it. She not only shared in our happiness with us, but she was very honest with her opinion of it because there were others I tried on that we didn’t like. She is not there to just sell you a ring and move on to the next customer. She is there to make sure you find the perfect piece and that you are satisfied. She even was staying late on a Friday night since we decided to purchase it. He has to get his band yet and is still deciding between a few. She did not rush him to make a decision like most others would have. Everything she says comes from the heart and she is ultimately there for her customers. When you think of looking for your next jewelry store, look no further and ask for Jennifer. You will meet no other like her. It most definitely says something when he remembers her and says we need to go back there because she was so nice, put no pressure on you, and just wants what’s best for you! My (now) fiance and I knew we wanted to pick out an engagement ring together. Before going to James Douglas we went to a big-box store first to see their selection of solitaire rings. At the other store we noticed the gentleman helping us had a total shift in demeanor after learning that we already had the diamond and were there to look for a setting. The solitaire setting selection at the other store was very small and it felt like as soon as he knew the purchase was going to be smaller than expected, he acted like he didn't have time for us.

We left and the next morning went to James Douglas Jewelers. We told Jennifer the same exact thing we told the big-box store, and received the exact opposite response. She was so excited to help us and sat down with us to go over all our options. Not only did she make us feel special for the fact I was able to use a family piece, she wanted to make sure that my fiance and I found something we both loved together. She answered lots of questions and never once did we feel any pressure from her. She was incredibly knowledgeable and had great tips for us to consider when trying on the rings. The pieces at James Douglas are beautiful, and I fell in love with two different pieces that they were able to 'custom' design for me.

While we waited for the ring to be created and appraised, I used James Douglas for jewelry cleaning and for a ring resizing. We also used them for appraisals of estate pieces. The communication, care, and kindness found at James Douglas are truly unmatched. We feel very fortunate to have found James Douglas and look forward to using them in the future.
