Balcom's Southside Market — Attraction in Montebello

When my family first moved to Montebello, one of the first things we did was seek out a local liquor store to avoid having to go to the super market for a quick store run, luckily we found Balcom's. They have all the essentials for any mealtime, plus a meat market. There is a water machine outside for those who prefer to fill their own jugs. One of the great things about Balcom's is that there is a bus stop directly across the street for the Montebello line 70, which can take you to such places as The Shops at Montebello, all four of the city of Montebello's high schools, and the local Metrolink station. Street parking is available along with roughly eight spots in the lot. Full disclosure, the area does have a bit of a tagging problem, but I have never heard about much else, and I have been through that way hundreds of times. Great neighborhood store. Walk here often just to grab a snack when I need to stretch my legs. The only reason for the 1 star loss is the smell.... with produce and butcher in the same small area there needs to be some better...
