Ida Bell Young Park — Attraction in Montgomery

This is a pretty nice park. They have a track/loop for a nice walk, a little creek, a restroom, a shelter with tables, and three kids playgrounds areas right next to each other. I took away one star because the playground for 6+ had a nice rubber mat while the 2-5 playground had sand and I thought that was rather backwards (my two year old decided to taste test the sand.) I took away another star because they had a jungle gym area with great things for little kids to sit on that, I think, also had sand, but it was more like a film covered sludge in most spots and overgrown plant life in others. There was also a lot of areas where heavy equipment had damaged the landscape with large tire tracks that were muddy because they were holding water throughout the park. Okay park, it's located behind a school so if the school is having an event they use it for extra parking and you may get blocked in. The equipment is could be updated. It was our first time at the park I took my kids and a grown woman saw fit to approach my 7 year old daughter with the nastiest attitude like she was going to fight her because apparently words were said between her kid and mines. You would think an adult would know how to handle that kind of situation but i guess not. Lastly, just like the other parks in Montgomery somebody is ALWAYS smoking weed. Locating entrance was quite an experience! Several other event attendees also encountered this dilemma. Although steady rain 'possibly' could be the culprit, grounds were poorly maintained with high, unmanicured grass and water puddles encircled the covered Shelter area. While children found puddles quite entertaining, adults not so much... Other Park attendees garnered shelter from the rain on an open park bench as not to disturb the Reserved Shelter Occupants. Bathrooms were tolerably clean. Suggest Designated Area to hang Greeting/Event Banner(s) possibly a type of Bulletin Board on wall located...
