Great little airfield tucked behind a neighborhood along the Great Miami River in Dayton, Ohio. This place is pretty hidden, and hard to find if you don't know where it is. I really enjoyed that element of the place. It feels kind of like a secret.
My buddy is an airline pilot and hadn't flown any smaller planes in a while. So he got checked out in one of their Arrows and we toured around the area. In a couple of hours, we flew to Kentucky and then explored much of southwestern Ohio from the air. The Ohio River from a couple thousand feet is something to behold!
The plane was from the 70s and in good working order. The folks at the airfield were welcoming and friendly.
I love the aerial approach and departure, as the airfield is surrounded on three sides by the winding Great Miami River. Really cool place!!
All and all, this was a great experience. I hope to come back again, when I'm in...
Read moreI've taken my last two PSI tests here after the testing center I used to go to closed its doors. They are very prepared for you to be there and take your test. The appropriate supplement that you need for your specific test will already be sitting at the work station when you arrive. They have their system down on getting you signed in. Both times I took my test there were people in the next room, but I only knew that when I stepped out of the testing room. They are very courteous about keeping the sound down... even with each other it would seem. Almost eerie how quiet everyone has been while interacting with each other, but I...
Read moreUnpopular opinion but the Airpark is whatever, the people that fly in out of here are extremely annoying however. They fly very low, close to our homes and circle around constantly at all hours. It's obnoxious and makes our quality of life less than because someone wants to do donuts in a helicopter over my roof. I get that people have the right to fly but there should really be some rules and regulations if people can't give any thought to consideration as to what times, how often as well as how close to houses these...
