I purchased a cake for my first grandbaby's baby shower. Since she is the first for both sides of the family it was a relatively large event with lots of love, excitement and money enveloped into the planning. A professional decorator was hired to transform the room with a design that included a focus on the cake table. It was imperative that the cake be perfect not only in presentation but in taste. I reached out to several cake designers and chose to use ele. I placed the order and paid for the design at least two weeks in advance. On the day of the shower I drove over and picked up the cake. It wasn't as large as I thought it was represented to be at ordering nor was it that eye popping design we created but I figured it was close enough to make do for the event. I had purchased additional Walmart cupcakes to accentuate the design thus I figured I had enough to offer a desert when this went quickly as anticipated. I was banking that the cake would be favorfully delicious. When it came time to cut it we noticed that it crumbled in parts and was hard to serve. It wasn't moist and didn't respond like a fresh cake does when cutting it during service. It even looked dry. Since this was THE desert we completed the cake service to all guest who desired a slice of cake. As the shower concluded I noticed no one commented on it. Typically in past events when a delicious cake/desert was served I would get comments and questions such as "the cake was really good" and requests for the Baker's information. Not this time, no one commented - until I asked - and those comments were it wasn't bad, it was okay, it was really dry. I couldn't even give the remainder of it away and it ended up being trashed. (Tired from the whole day event set-up, I didn't think about taking the remainder home.) Very disappointed, the next day I reached out to ele regarding my experience. The manager was very nice and offered to bake me a fresh new order of my cake. I thanked him for the offer but informed him the event was over and I didn't need a whole new cake. I could not recall all the guests to one location to serve them cake. He offered to provide certificates that I could use for another date when I needed another cake. I said that was fine and drove out later that day to pick up the certificates. The cake area gave me a sealed envelope. Enclosed were two certificates totaling $20.00. Considerably, I paid much more for the cake and was expecting the replacement amount in certificates since he offered to replace MY cake. I returned to inside the store and explained that there must be some confusion on my part as the enveloped only contained 20.00 when I had paid a lot of money for the cake. In short, he retracted replacing my cake since I didn't bring 3/4ths of the cake back for him to see and stated he could only give me the certificates or a replacement cake out of the window - 20.00 value. I told him I didn't know I had to bring the cake back and if I held onto 3/4ths of cake I would not have been able to serve all the guests. He refused to make me whole on the replacement of my cake and I ended up walking out with just 20.00 worth of cupcakes for my experience. I was extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with ele. I won't be back.
I believe they baked my cake in advance and then let it sit causing it to dry out. I write this to warn others who may be planning an event creating a first or memory. What bothered me the most was not just the money I wasted but the fact that my son and daughter n law for whom the shower was planned for did not like it. Though it may seem like it's just a cake their speciality cakes such as this one is part of a memory. The items usually have a nice price tag and if you pay that much money for something you should get the quality you ordered. Giving me 20.00 in cupcakes doesn't rectify on the same level. Shame but those guests who had a cupcake too actually preferred it. Those were moist, beautifully decorated and delicious! And those were Walmart...

Read moreIf you’re considering Ele Cake Co for your next special occasion, I would advise against it based on my recent experience. I trusted them to create the cake for my daughter’s birthday & the quality of their work was extremely disappointing. The cake was decorated very sloppy & not something I would expect from a “professional” bakery. When I addressed the issue with them, their response was dismissive, rude & unprofessional. Ultimately, I requested a refund & left the cake behind. I asked for ombre icing design & it looked terrible. Not blended well at all, in addition, the rainbow icing design looked like an amateur decorator was assigned to this cake. I understand that not every request will align with the skills of a decorator, but in such cases, it would be more appropriate to communicate that rather than charge premium prices for sloppy mediocre work. Unfortunately, the overall quality & service at Ele Cake Co has really gone downhill. The freshness of their cakes is also hit or miss, there is no consistency. For anyone looking for a reliable bakery with great service, I recommend considering The Cakery, Say Yes Cakes, or Cake Hope & Love. I’ve heard excellent feedback about these businesses & will be recommending them to my friends & family moving forward. I will not be returning here. And save the phony business reply. I asked to speak to the store manager, Amy, who was not there. Then asked for a phone number where I can speak to her & was given the website used to order cakes....
Read moreI have never been more disappointed. I wanted a special, custom decorated cake for my father's 80th birthday. I ordered my cake in person at the Beavercreek location. The person who waited on me was very helpful. I explained to her that I wanted the cake to look like a globe with the countries covering the top AND sides of the cake. I showed her several pictures of cakes that depicted the different design ideas I wanted incorporated. She carefully wrote out the instructions and description, and I emailed the reference photos I showed her along with the instructions/design ideas I told her. I also provided a cruise ship ornament to put on the cake. I followed up with an email 5 days before I was to pick up the cake, and my order was confirmed. Three days before the pickup, I received a call from someone, I assume it was the decorator, who reviewed my order. What I received was far less than expected and looked unfinished. The "map" decoration that was added to the cake only covered a small portion, and didnt even properly fit the area where it was placed. I expressed my disappointment, but with it being two hours before the party, I knew nothing could be done to fix it. I was offered an apology and a partial refund of the decorating fee. I did my best to salvage the cake by adding a few decorations of my own after I got home. The cake was delicious, but the design and decorations leaved little to be desired. For the $130.00 I was charged, I was expecting more...
