Went on the dinner cruise from Mt Pleasant. The boat was generally clean and tidy and kept to its schedule. Timing is everything because the sun was setting over Charleston and the view from the upper deck was spectacular. My partner and I had a table for two at a window, but unfortunately, the window was so dirty we could barely see out of it, and trying to take a picture through it was impossible.
The meal was limited menu, which is OK because they had something for everyone. Unfortunately, having a fish allergy I was unable to partake in the She Crab soup. I was offered a fruit salad, but it was frozen - literally, so I had to wait for it to thaw. The meal itself was very nice. My partner had the chicken, I had the braised beef. Both were tasty and enjoyable. The desserts are separately priced and small, but very good.
The bar was well stocked, and I must give a shout-out for "Ques" (or Kwez, not sure of the spelling). He was very helpful and remembered what I and my partner were drinking so that he could serve us for the evening.
After the meal, and towards the end of the cruise, an acoustic guitarist provided entertainment for the remainder of the cruise. He must have been on another deck earlier in the cruise.
Overall, it was a pleasant and enjoyable evening and the dining area was pleasant to be in. I would recommend Spirit Line Cruises do the following to make it a great customer experience: Clean the windows so the passengers can see out of them. Offer an alternative soup for those who cannot consume the She Crab soup. Include the dessert in the price...
Read moreWhat a beautiful evening! The sunset as we were embarking was beautiful which made for lovely onboarding photos (which you can purchase for $45 on board - package includes 2 themed frames, 2 large photos, & 2 small photos at 2 different poses). The dinner consisted of she-crab soup, a kale salad with an amazing dressing, and choice of 1 of 5 entrees (braised rib, stuffed chicken breast, shrimp and grits, salmon, and a vegetarian option). We ordered a bottle of Cab (wine ranged from $25-$65/bottle) and a dessert ($6). The experience was beautiful and we were lucky enough to be sat with a really sweet couple who we were able to connect with, but if you are not up for mingling with “strangers” then I don’t recommend this for you. I was also disappointed that the desserts were NOT included. For as expensive as the dinner was, I wouldve expected one drink and a dessert to be included. I am very grateful that this was a part of our trip as It was a nice evening, It was just a bit pricier than It should have been (including the photo pricing). Also, when you book, you are told that parking is $5 in cash & that the bar is cash only. This is NOT true. Parking was free (and this could be because we went on the sunset cruise - so day time rates may be accurate, but that was not specified), and the bar took card! So just know you do NOT need to bring cash for the bar. Also, when you get there, check in at the ticket booth to get your physical boarding pass before hopping in the embarking line. There are no real instructions for this - so you’re kind of...
Read moreI had my small wedding reception on the harbor dinner cruise, and it did not live up to expectation. They advertised live music, but it was a guy playing guitar that could only be heard in close proximity. They advertised free parking for our guests, which we paid for, but some guests had to pay for parking. Bar service was extremely slow, there was nothing kid friendly on the menu, and the server was rude to the children. The server seemed to be in a feud with me because I was displeased with the service and attentiveness. All parties are lumped into a loud dining area, so it was hard to hear, and my party had to be split between two sides of the room, leaving some guests isolated from the rest of us. They ran out of bread and the courses came out very spaced out, the main entrees taking the longest. When the entrees came out, they were served to the whole boat at once, in warming tins, and the food was subpar. The chicken was rubbery, the pork chops were cold and flavorless, and the steak was tough. Most guests didn't even finish their meals, and neither did my bride or I. The actual harbor tour was picturesque and enjoyable, including a pass by Fort Sumter, but it was little to make up for the overall disappointing experience. I would definitely not recommend this harbor cruise for the price you pay, and I'm extremely displeased with how my wedding reception turned out based on how the cruise...
