Cuesta Park is easily one of my favorite spots in Mountain View. Whether you’re out for a walk, meeting friends, or just want some time outdoors, this park really has it all. I come here pretty often, and every time I notice something new to appreciate.
The walking paths are wide, shaded, and perfect for a morning stroll or jog. There’s a ton of open grassy space that’s great for picnics or tossing a frisbee around. One of the things I really like is the variety of activity areas—there’s a fitness zone with calisthenics equipment, tennis courts, volleyball nets, and even a small hard court for badminton. It’s rare to find that many options in one park.
The playground is great for kids, and I’ve noticed a lot of families hanging out there, especially on weekends. There’s also a dog park nearby, and it’s always fun to see dogs running around while their owners chat. The bathrooms are clean and there’s plenty of parking, which makes it a super convenient place to visit, even if you’re coming from outside the neighborhood.
One small thing—there are a lot of gopher holes in the grassy areas, so just watch your step. But it looks like they’re trying to manage it. Funny story: I accidentally left my water bottle on a bench once, and when I came back the next day, it was still there. That kind of sums up the vibe of this place—relaxed, respectful, and safe.
Overall, Cuesta Park is a peaceful, well-kept community space that’s great for all ages. Whether you want to work out, walk your dog, or just enjoy some sunshine, it’s a perfect...
Read moreNice large park with tennis courts and playgrounds. There is the tennis clubhouse there where you can take classes and pay for equipment. There are trails to do long walks and little valleys. There is lots of maintained grass good to sit for a picnic and a large playground. There is a wild part of the park with wild grasses and oak trees and there is the more manicured portion. For dog owners, there is a dog park where you can go off-leash in a bigger manicured valley. One dog was so funny and pushed us off a small cliff there once out of exuberance.
The park's beauty is in its dips and valleys, graceful trees and green grass - on a spring day, sitting under the shade it is a paradise. It is also delightful for little children to ride their bikes or run down hills and see moles peeking out! The people there are friendly, kind - I saw a mole that kept going in circles, we didn't know what happened to it - everyone came by to try to help it. Even little lost birds, the children would try to protect them. I've seen other parks where the people and children are...
Read moreThis park has a great location: there is hospital and YMCA on one side, plaza with cafes (like Sweet Tomatoes, local authentic Asian cafes) in 0.3 miles away (intersection of El Camino and Grant Rd. Park amenities includes: beautiful evergreen lawns (that cannot often be seen in this part of California even during the rain season), grass-covered hills, barbeque areas (that should be rented for special occasions like B-day party), walkways (kids can bike here and adults can make their morning running routine), 2 playgrounds with sand area (one playground for smaller kids and second one fits kids age 5-12 years). Air is always clean and fresh, as there are a lot of pine trees.
Also, there is bocce area, 2 parking lots, restrooms (located near the corner of each parking lots).
If you plan to visit the playground during morning hours, be prepared for cold sand as this area covered tree's shade and becomes warm by the lunch time.
The only cons - it would be great to have...
