I feel so lucky to have this bakery in the South Bay. It is INCREDIBLE to say the least.
Highly recommend the following:
Tomatoes Cheese Sourdough Bread: You get the satisfaction of their sourdough but with a savory and sweet addition with the tomatoes and cheese. It blew my mind.
Jar Cakes: I've tried their Mixed Berry, Ruby Chocolate, and Apple Pie (preference in this order). Mixed Berry is my favorite so far--light and fluffy with a gentle tang from the fruits. Ruby Chocolate was pleasantly surprising; not heavy or decadent at all. Apple Pie was good but I thought the apple chunks were too raw.
Focaccia: I've only tried the Margherita variation but I doubt you can go wrong with any of them. The slices are HUGE and made from the sourdough bread so you get all the flavors.
Cookies: My parents liked the oatmeal chocolate ones the best; not as sweet as the regular chocolate chip. The butter cookies are also very light and not sweet.
If you can't decide what to try, ask for a sample. They let you sample EVERYTHING; the quality of service is insane.
It's not really a sit down cafe (no chairs or tables). You pick up what you...
Read moreI keep forgetting to leave a review but I've been hooked since my first time visiting here in Nov 2024. The focaccia is just incredibly delectable (I always get the pesto and mozzarella). The sourdough is so fresh and fluffy too (I love the tomato and cheese one); I know I should be slicing it but it's so chewy you can just rip pieces off and snack on it as is! The pistachio croissant is amazing too--perfectly buttery, flaky, and layered with pistachio crumbly filling. The jar tiramisu cake is moist and fluffy too.
They have leftover sourdough from the previous day free to take in the mornings on some days I've popped in, which is a steal because they taste just as fresh and soft as the ones on display, but you probably have to get there early to get the flavor you like.
The cashier has a very gentle and welcoming demeanor, so service is great too. I hope to try the...
Read moreI stumbled upon a treasure. I never would've thought a bakery called GK Pastry in a strip mall in Mountain View made the best croissants within a 20 mile radius, but they do. I got a croissant and focaccia. Then I went back to get two croissants to make these videos. I am always on the lookout for perfect croissant. Not the "technical" kind like you get at places like Paris Baguette, but the REAL kind, made with hands, that have a substantial center and a vague scent of yeast. Hard to explain. My videos show exactly what I'm talking about. They bake everything on site in Mountain View and they have a store front in Palo Alto. I'm so glad to have found them. I'll keep going and updating this review as I try more things, they have a lot of offerings including dessert and chocolate. This isn't a cafe or restaurant, it's a place to order and go. They are...
