Discovering this place was such a treat! What really sets it apart is that it doesn’t follow the cookie-cutter mold of spicy dishes you see everywhere in the Bay. This place captures the real soul of Hunan/Sichuan food—comforting “home-cooked” vibe with a creative twist.
Must-try: Mochi Egg Pancake- Absolutely unique! The moment you bite in, you’re hit with the fragrant aroma of fermented sweet rice (jiuniang), wrapped in crispy fried egg edges. Slightly sweet, chewy, and totally addictive. What an incredible start to the meal!
Shredded Eel with Chili Peppers- Expertly stir-fried! Perfect wok hei, dry and fragrant with no trace of fishiness. Tender, flavorful, and goes so well with rice. A must-order!
Bullfrog with Perilla- Always my go-to dish at “Grandma’s Home” and this version didn’t disappoint. The perilla aroma is on point, the frog meat tender and flavorful, and the portion is super generous. Couldn’t stop eating! Changsha Stinky Tofu- Crispy on the outside, soft inside, and just the right level of funk! Loaded with savory and spicy flavors—just like the stinky tofu you’d find in the...

The food is absolutely delicious! The dining environment is clean, modern, and welcoming. The service is top-notch - friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu.
Staff were happy to make recommendations and answer questions with a smile.
One thing that stood out was how much the owner genuinely cares about the customer experience. He personally came to our table to greet us and asked for feedback, which shows a level of passion and dedication you don't often see. It's clear they're not just running a business, but really working to create something special.
I'll definitely be coming back again -- wishing them great...
Read moreMy family loved the previous restaurant in this location - Ocha.
We gave this place a try, but we have already decided we won’t be returning.
All prices across the board have gone up in comparison to its predecessor The menu is not as easy to navigate and not straight forward due to similar sounding dishes My order was wrong - we wanted to split an order of their pork fried rice and their fried chicken but they gave us braised pork and fried rice without pork We were hoping to get smaller portions / dishes but there were no “sides” option in the menu
I will say, the service was ok. It took about 15ish minutes to get food made and brought to me. I was not a fan of ordering from a kiosk for a to go order and then being prompted to tip.
I understand this was a soft opening, but I do not have many positives to take away from this experience. It will push to reach out and try other...
