On the recommendation of another NH local MT, we booked our spa day at IBC in Nashua. To celebrate my 40th bday &my 20 year career anniversary of being a full-time MT. I work physically and emotionally very hard and look forward to having treatments for my own self-care. Which is exactly why we drove from NY to NH to spend this week relaxing, recharging and paying to RECEIVE our own nurturing. When I called to book our appointments, I spoke to a friendly booking person who helped me pick out the best, most pampering spa treatments for us. I was very clear that I wanted ALL THE THINGS for myself and was specifically looking to be ultra pampered for my 40th. I also made it crystal clear that I really NEEDED the deep tissue massage because of the amount of massage I give each week. • What I booked for my partner: 90 minute deep tissue w/ CBD oil•What he received: 90 minute deep tissue massage with Mary who is an incredible MT and really worked w/him to customize his treatment. No CBD.• What I booked for myself: 60 minute deep tissue + CBD + body polish +90 minute facial. What I received: 60min, less than Swedish massage-LMT was playing on her phone w/ one hand throughout my entire treatment - very frustrating and noticeable. Pressure and technique was less than a standard relaxation/Swedish massage. This is frustrating because I booked a Deep Tissue and I REALLY NEEDED THIS WORK! I needed focus work and my massage therapist didn’t ask me anything about my body/injuries/preferences/focus areas prior or during my treatment at all (the company website states that she specializes in customized massage for each clients needs). I did ask for more pressure on my back area where she started - although she did go a bit deeper for about 10 mins, it was clear to me that she was not a deep tissue MT. Disappointing, especially since when I booked I talked to the staff about my needs and experience as a DT MT myself. No CBD was used. My body polish was fine. I’m especially glad that I had it, since my other treatments ended up being short of technique and time. My facial was 60 mins, rather than 90 mins. And was really two back-to-back mini facials. There was no double cleanse and no exfoliant. I even had a mask applied OVER a moisturizer at one point, which of course creates a barrier from the mask penetrating my skin. There was some manual extraction, but only on my nose and nothing more than I could have done at home. Because of my 20 years experience working in the spa industry, I do know what a luxurious and thorough facial treatment feels like — and what I received at Inner Beauty Concepts was neither. The facial room is also in their staff kitchen area - so, I could hear the staff having their lunch (forks on plates etc.) I do know that spas cannot be completely silent, but my treatment door was OPEN to the kitchen. Texting and shorting me services and time is over the top and so disappointing. After my services, I did have to mention to the desk staff some adjustments that needed to be made and clarify what was booked. Her answer to all of the mistakes was, “it must have been a miscommunication.” To which, I said, “well, that’s A LOT of miscommunication… and it’s super disappointing because I REALLY needed this work today and based my entire birthday trip around this experience here at THIS spa.” She did NOT apologize to me for all the “miscommunication” but did adjust my bill to accommodate for the services that we actually did receive. I wanted to spend $430 and had generous crispy cash tips ready for the providers. But ended up paying $370 and had to leave only 15% tips because the experience was so disappointing. This was a loose/loose/loose for everyone.Super cute spa! Wish I would have had the relaxing experience that I paid hundreds of bucks for! If you go, see Mary for massage! My guy said she truly is a great/thoughtful MT (and he knows the difference). Warmly, Bummed out...
Read moreI have been to this place twice for a full body massage. I would recommend Christine, as I had a wonderful time with her and actually saw an improvement in my back pain after her session. My second time here was not as pleasant with Julia, so I would recommend choosing another therapist if you are booked with her. She asked me prior to the visit on what areas I would want focused on and I did say neck and lower back. She did not touch my lower back once and this was a full body massage I booked. I informed the receptionist of this when we made a payment and still tipped her. I did have a birthday discount of $20 for that massage but we still tipped before the discount was applied. The receptionist went to speak to Julia and she was also able to confirm that while she did do my paraspinal/upper portion of my back, but that she did in fact not do the lower back. Since a manager was not there, my boyfriend called to speak with someone about this issue at a later time. Julia then lied to her boss and told her that she did touch my lower back and that due to my boyfriend and I speaking for 5-10 minutes during the session while she was working on my upper neck- not back, then I must have forgot that she did my lower back which doesn’t add up because she told the receptionist that she did in fact skip the lower back, so she changed her story. The manager offered us another 1 hour massage for $100, with a free 15 minutes. My boyfriend told her he would have to speak with me first but they booked that time slot for the time being since I am a healthcare worker and not able to come to the phone right away when I’m with patients. I did not feel that was satisfactory due to the massage specialist making the error and having us pay for another entire massage of that cost. We informed the manager that this response was not satisfactory and cancelled it within 3 hours. All in all, you will be in good hands if you use Christine for your massage if you have low back pain especially as I can speak from...
Read moreEdit: Wanted to update my review since staff have changed. I’ve been a customer for years and all of their services are great. For massage/body work I’ve been seeing Rich- I had struggled for years with shoulder and back pain after my kids were born— not kidding when I say it was gone after I saw him the first time. He has a deep understanding of muscles and how it all works. I leave every visit feeling better than when I walked in, and that relief lasts. Dude just gets it. Go see Rich!
2019: I have been a customer for over a year and can say that this is the best massage and facial spa I have ever been to. It’s quaint and serene inside, and their products are great.
massage: I did prenatal massages with Nicole and she cured my sciatica after one visit. TRUST ME - it makes a difference where you go for prenatal massages. I had one at a different place that was awkward and the massage therapist didn’t know how to position me. Nicole is a PRO- she had pillows perfectly arranged and ready for me on arrival and I could just relax. I continued with massages with her postpartum, and she helped my sore and battered little body get back to feeling good. I was in a lot of pain from learning how to nurse my son- Nicoles massages helped me get through it. Fast forward 9 months and I’m still a loyal customer of hers and IBC. Nicole is thorough and conscientious and my problem areas/tender muscles feel better after...
