We drove to Nebraska City while on vacation. Our goal was to see some other historical sites; but due to wrong information on google they were closed. We almost left but decided to take another look and found this rare gem located on the main street. We have been to hundreds of museums, and on this visit we received the best guided tour ever to be expected. The intern on-site was very knowledgeable and passionate about the museum and gave us her utmost attention and insight. Though at first glance, windmills can sound boring, but this museum is so much more than that. The tour takes roughly an hour, but could have taken three hours and I would have listened to every word. A lesson in ingenuity and the thriftiness of a by-gone generation of immigrants passed on to family. The working conditions in the small plant will amaze but the need for employment but more important, the need for water in larger quantities for livestock and gardens was higher priority.
