Not too overcrowded, clean beach and facilities, family friendly. Parking can be difficult to find on very hot days. Staff and amenities are fine, no complaints but nothing to write home about. Over-policing has been a nuisance in the past, being a "presence" but actually bullying beach-goers. Cops must leave the people alone and show up only when there's a serious and legitimate crime in progress. Officers seem to think it's okay for them to enjoy leisure Time at the beach, walking around with guns, taking up space and parking. The lake's water is generally clear, but being freshwater it's unfair to expect crystal clear blues. The sand is coarse mixed with fine decomposition matter which contributes to the brownish color. Read moreWe come here mostly for the sand volleyball which is a 5 out of 5! I brought the review down because the water is yucky and super shallow. I'm 5'5" and in the deepest part of the swimming area it comes to my belly button. So basically this beach is ideal for families with young kids. Also important to note that the lifeguards take 15 minute breaks every hour, in which there is no swimming allowed. We also brought food to grill one time and there was only one grill we could find which was right by a pavilion that was being rented out for a family reunion.
