Clove Lake Park is a beautiful place that has a lot to offer. It's a large park, for both active and passive recreation. Part of the park consists of woodlands and ponds, including Clove Lake. On the side of the park where there is more active recreational opportunity has basketball courts, a running track, and a baseball diamond near Clove Road and Victory Boulevard. At that side of the park there is also an ice skating rink. This part of the park also contains a playground, where there are sprinklers in the summer for young children. Also in the summer there are outdoor events for both children and adults, including outdoor concerts. The park also contains woodlands. These are good to go for a hike that is not too strenuous but enjoyable, and there are picnic tables within the wooded area of the park. The wooded part of the park is a wonderful place to observe wildlife, including wading Birds like the great blue heron and egrets. On the grounds of the park is a restaurant called The Stone House, which has beautiful views and a wonderful brunch on Sundays. I have been here on several occasions and was never disappointed. If you just want to go for a quick walk or a hike to clear your head, thus park is a great...
Read moreHere for a wedding and reception at the Stone House. Beautiful setting, idyllic. Amazing food, especially cocktail hour walk-around service - mouth-watering, forget-about-saving-room-for-dinner treats: goat meatballs, maple bourbon bacon, duck egg rolls with sweet chili sauce. That was on top of cheese, meats and fresh pasta/steak or pork stations at a small buffet. Dinner choices were just different enough for a wedding to make them noticeably more enjoyable, including flaky juicy swordfish and moist chicken marsala (I think). Stone dance floor unique yet comfortable. We had the lakeside room and area which includes spacious gazebos and small gardens on either side. Three big turtles entertained young and old and hanging out in the gazebos was a favorite place for non-dancers and the few kids. I have no idea where room for dessert came from, but a chocolate fountain and liqueur table with many sweets and fruits and even ice cream could not be passed up. And every single person we encountered from personal show-runner to bartenders to servers was kind, funny, professional, and helpful! The liquor was great, too, from what I could tell....
Read moreIt's a wonderful local park split in half along Martling Avenue. The section between Martling and Forest has some small bodies of water, a small waterfall feature, and a handful of footpaths to follow through the park, as well as a child's playground on the Clove Road and Forest Avenue corner of the park.
Crossing Martling Avenue puts you in the larger section of the park which goes all the way up to Victory Boulevard. This part of the park has a larger playground with swingsets for babies as well as children and adults, a park with a sprinkler, an ice skating rink, and a picnic area, as well as a restaurant that gets quite popular in the warmer months.
The park is generally very well kept, and has some wonderful views on offer for being in between several main roads on Staten Island.
Parking can be found around the perimeter of the park, and is not metered (as far as I know) anywhere. No public parking lots, either.
The Victory Boulevard side of the park is the more popular side of the park due in no small part to the restaurant and skating rink, but the entire park is...
