My recent negative experience of joining Fitnation Gym has been nothing short of a nightmare, I must admit. It was immediately clear that this establishment has terrible management and complete contempt for customer service. One of Fitnation Gym's most obvious problems is its sloppy, unqualified administration. I was promised a wide range of advantages when I signed up, such as cutting-edge equipment, well-kept facilities, and experienced personnel. These were, however, quickly revealed to be nothing more than empty promises. The gym's equipment frequently had problems or was in bad shape, which includes damaged machines and parts that were missing. The management was often complained to, but nothing was done to resolve the problems. When I drew these issues to the staff's notice, it frequently took weeks for them to be fixed, which caused unneeded worry and annoyance. It is unacceptable for a company to carelessly mishandle financial affairs. I ran into a circumstance during my negative experience with Fitnation Gym that contributed to further emphasize the gym's arbitrary policies and propensity to level unfounded allegations. I intended to bring a friend along to use the facilities on a specific date. However, when we got to the gym, we learned that there was a new rule that said visitors had to be at least 21 and local Ridgewood, Middle Village, Maspeth, or Glendale residents. This rule struck me as being exceedingly onerous and, to be honest, absurd. It seems excessive and unnecessary to place such severe restrictions on visitors, especially the requirement that they be locals. I acknowledge that restrictions are necessary to protect gym patrons' security and comfort, but this particular policy seems unduly onerous and biased towards visitors. Countless gyms and fitness facilities accept people from outside the nearby area because they understand the importance of doing so and the possibility for attracting new members. The policy of Fitnation Gym appears to disregard this strategy, perhaps alienating those who might otherwise have joined as valued members. When my friend and I opted not to pay for admittance because of the rigorous regulation, things got worse. Then, the gym officials accused me—completely unfairly—of attempting to sneak my friend inside. We decided against entering after learning about the policy because I had made it clear that I would be bringing a guest. The staff's accusation was unfounded and showed a lack of professionalism and faith in their clients. In conclusion, Fitnation Gym is a prime example of terrible management, rude employees, and abysmal customer service. The lack of attention to detail, unprofessional staff, poor communication, and recurring billing issues make it an establishment that I would strongly advise others to avoid. There are numerous other fitness centers in the area that prioritize their customers' satisfaction and provide a more positive and enjoyable experience. Spare yourself the disappointment and frustration by looking elsewhere for a gym that values...
Read moreBefore you use the "Your name doesn't appear in our database" excuse. I choose to remain anonymous because I fear that if my name is disclosed I might get thrown out of the gym by Randal for speaking my mind (It is evident that people get thrown out of the gym for things that don't abide by his "rules").
Here is the good, German, Cam, Jasmine, Richie are great trainers with bright personalities and lots of knowledge. They will motivate you, make you smile, and help even if your not their client.
Here is the bad, soap in men's bathroom is never functional or extremely watered down. There has been an endless cycle of poorly selected cleaners/janitors. These guys are now fired but spent enough time in the gym to leave a salty taste in everyone's mouth. Michael and Orlando sagged there pants, came into work under the influence, smoked vapes, and overall just creeps with girls. Yes I can go on about the extensive cardio machines just taking up room but that is strictly a personal preference and there is work around. The gym should be for everyone not a specific niche of clients.
Moving forward to the possibly worst part of the gym. RANDAL AND SELENE. The so called dynamic duo "Floor manager" and "Finance Manager". Randal is the typical Mr. Tough guy that fuels off power. He kicks people out for reasons that are unheard of, and Jerry (owner) if you are reading this he makes those situations sound way worse than they really are. He's flipped out his switch knife several times on the gym floor as a playful joke but its all apart of fueling his ego. He parks his motorcycle right by the stairs to enter the gym yet will threaten to tow your vehicle if parked to the side of the gym. I hope you all have the picture in your head.
SELENE... This lady is more like a very unprofessional uncle Sam. Threatened to put a girl in collections for a payment that was processed after leaving the gym. Upon request to void the charge being that she is no longer in the gym and the non-renewal was lost in communication from the front desk to their CRM. You don't put someone into collections for $100. She implemented rules about $25 day passes after promising long term members to have free buddy passes upon signing up (prior to her employment here). It is simply a money grab. Even with this money grab the soap is still not dispensing after my workout. I can go on but one thing she does is publicly embarrasses people regarding finances. Has she done it to me? No. To see other people who could potentially be struggling financially or simply have an issue going on with a card be publicly humiliated for a $40 payment. It is all about money to her. It is never appealing to be that money hungry in any type of business.
I hope that the gym can find itself and remedy...
Read moreOne of the first things that I must said on writing this review is that I totally LOVE this fitness club.
During the Covid pandemic, when all the gyms were allowed to reopen with a limited number of clients, I was at a different gym of which I will not say its name. My experience at that other gym, when I was allowed to go back, was so negative that I quit that gym right on the spot. I started to look for another gym to join. My husband showed me a postcard of Fitnation which he was thinking of joining. I hesitated because of my previous experience. However, I decided to give it a try. The minute I entered Fitnation, the first thing I noticed was the openness and the huge space. Usually gyms feel small and crowded. Fitnation felt bright and open.
I was greeted by Michael, one of the managers and then given a tour of the space. I decided to join and am very happy that I did. After several months, I decided to get a personal trainer. I spoke to manager Randell and he mentioned, due to the disabilities that I have, he would connect me to a personal trainer who also had experience in physical therapy. Randell is very good at understanding what I needed. Cheri-ann is a wonderful trainer who is funny, caring, and knowledgeable. She knows her stuff. Before I started my training program with her, I had hypertension, high sugar levels and bodily pains. In just a couple of months, the hypertension was gone and my blood sugar levels lowered. My bodily pains are less then they were before. Cheri-ann is the best.
Fitnation has a wonderful staff. Trainers like Germain and Chrissy are always ready to help you. There are staff members who always make sure that the equipment is ready for use and will help you lift and change a heavy weight. And let me not forget the staff at the front desk who always greet me with a smile and sometimes with a joke, Laura, Esmeralda and the one and only, Carlos.
I am really happy with Fitnation. Elba- a...
