Rainbow Orient Spa — Attraction in New York

I believe this spa is under new management if not ownership. Buzzed in without having made appt. Angel greeted me and took me to first room on left. Noted a couch in small entrance waiting area. Asked how long, I gave the CC for a 60min massage fee. Place looks freshly renovated. Soft music. Bright entrance. Cameras outside x2. Small and private shower room for before or after at customers discretion.

I lay down and immediately notice the softly padded and heated massage table surface! Glorious. Never experienced this before. Bonus! Wall mounted AC unit in the room. Dimmer lights as well. Also grab bars on ceiling for safety when back walking. Soft Asian ambiant piano music.

Large towel goes on and massage commences. Soon towel comes off and full body with lotion or oil as hard as she can muster at my request. Complied to request for elbows. Strong hands and good kneading of the legs and thighs and glutes. Massage quality was very good and covered all muscle groups. Relieved stress in lower back especially. Pillow provided for flip to get at anterior legs. Excellent work continued. Might do 90min next time to get some scalp and foot work done. Pleasant conversation at times.

Clean up with hot towel. Water and a candy. Walks me out.

Met the manager who comes out and says hi. Nice woman with bright and welcoming smile.

A fine experience to be had again at a more than reasonable price. Cash tip...

My friend and I came here in mid-August to try this place out. We each got a foot massage. The ladies who did our massages did a fantastic job and we decided we would definitely return because we felt so relaxed. Here is where it went wrong though. After the massages were complete, my friend went to the counter to pay for both of us (my friend was also paying for me as a treat). My friend gave $20 tip each to the man processing the payment (the man is the owner) so that he could give to each of our female massagers (altogether $40 tip for both). However, the man stated to my friend that the $20 tip each for the massagers was not enough and stated that $30 each was a good amount. My friend thought that was crazy! That was more or less half the amount of the massage price itself. Also, who suggests what amount of tip the customer should pay? That is so tacky, especially when the tip being paid is already a significant amount. If the owner had not done that then we definitely would have returned for monthly massages but because of that we were turned off and decided we would not come back despite the massages having been really good which is the reason for the 2-star rating. Disgusted!!! Booked an hour massage here after reading all of the positive reviews online, but am now wondering if they are actually legitimate. The massage started off in what appeared to be a routine massage, but about 15 minutes in, I started to feel very uncomfortable with the way the older female masseuse was touching my body. Boundaries started to become non-existent, and about 5 mins later was when I became very angry. This was due to the fact that despite paying for a normal, body massage, I was propositioned for a happy ending. I refused and 5 mins later the masseuse forcefully asked again, in which I responded with a forceful, "NO!" As I left, the masseuse had the nerve to ask me for a tip of which I told her that I was infuriated by my experience and she would not be receiving any tips for the shady services performed at their facility. I am writing this review in hopes that everyone who decides to go here knows beforehand that this is not the normal "massage parlor" that they advertise to be, but an undercover Rub and Tug. I hope this saves customers the hassle before they even decide to enter this place and know exactly what they are...
