I went around 3: 00pm so the beach was basically empty which was nice. I actually got in the water which was cold at first but then it was good. Nice waves to listen to while I sat in my chair. The one con is that there was no lifeguard at the section that I went to. People went in the water but there was this guy going around on his ATV blowing his whistle telling everyone to get out. Total bummer. They need to spread those lifeguards that they do have out so everyone has access to the water not just certain sections.

A nice spot to enjoy a warm sunny day as well as local social events like concerts, art festivals, and book sales for those who aren't into swimming or fishing. The boats and lights from the Atlantic Beach Marina are within clear view across the inlet on the Long Island side after sunset. Please Note: Lifeguards are on duty until 6PM between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends and red flags mark the rip current areas to stay away from. Rockaway residents care about everyone's safety not just the locals.

The whole (even the nature preserve) boardwalk has been getting crowded. It's getting harder to ride your bike on the weekends without having to stop a few times because of someone not paying attention even in the bike lanes. I've lived in Rockaway a long time about 2yrs before Rockaway Playland closed down, and it's getting as crowded as it was back then. 12/09/23 Work on the Cement Seawall (I'm not sure what to call it?) has took off the past few months. Today 📸.

Nice area and well improved since the last time I was here. Nice boardwalk with benches that stretches for miles. A great place to catch some sun, take a stroll or even sit down with a good book. Also there is a great bike lane., just observe that there are people who may be in those lanes or gather at the bathroom, sprinklers and food places to slow down and use your whistle or bell prior. It's well maintained and can get crowded in certain areas.

My go to beach in the city! Super accessible, with reasonably clean facilities near by. I usually don’t go to the boardwalk but from what I saw they’re were some nice, although pricey restaurant options- including an arepa place. Be careful walking into the beach from the boardwalk- there are plants with spikes and I got one in my foot the last time I went. Had to buy tweezers. Don’t feed the seagulls!

Rockaway is a beautiful beach! Clean, great waves! It has a parking lot. There are ittle shops along the boardwalk, food, drinks & occasional live music & dancing. You can get to it easily via train or ferry if you don't have a car. I recommend ferry if you don't drive, the ride is awesome with fantastic views along the way & pretty quick. Family friendly.
