The most perfect place to unwind! A beautifully, immaculate, beach shoreline with rock jetties, and nature preserves, complete with recreation park areas and seasonal activities! There are also designated fishing areas, and the vista views are AWESOME, year-round, at any time of the day!

One can escape the concrete jungle and be one with nature, by watching and basking in the light of nature's clock - - You'll find the most beautifully colored sunrises and sunsets that vary daily throughout every season.

Dusk to Dawn is simply wonderful, with the onset of the early morning light into the brightest afternoon sun! to the last glimpse of sunset - where one can experience a most spectacular twilight with an incredibly splendid, colorful display that changes per season.

Twilight at Rockaway Beach is both amazing and serene. The transition to the night sky is literally a "moving" experience, in combination with the beautiful sounds of the tide waves against the sand and shore. Depending on the moon phases, one can catch the amazing twilight transition into the night sky with the moon amongst the bright, sparkling star constellations in the clear, night skies of the deepest, darkest, bluest indigo one could ever imagine!

Rockaway Beach is the perfect place to unwind. Most importantly, a place to relax, and connect...

Lots have changed since the mid ‘80’s. There use to be a lil hole in the wall spot by B 9th on a dead end that sold Spanish food & sandwiches. It was delicious. Convenient if you didn’t want to lug food in ice coolers onto the sand. Now it’s closed down. Not mention back than there wasn’t any sand grass. Now there’s lots of it growing there. No one fished there. Being that it was by the inlet parents didn’t have to worry about the waves hitting their children taking them further into the inlet. Now you have to worry about the fishermen leaving hooks in the sand or your children getting tangled up in their fishing strings. What a shame. Time has changed everything & it isn’t for the best. Only thing that’s better is now there’s...

I have lived here so over 20 years and have witnessed the changes occurring to this beach. Rockaway has steadily improved thanks to city efforts. Beautiful boardwalk, shops and restaurants along the boardwalk, updated showers and water fountains, and an improved trash disposal. The beach maintenance as improved, and I've seen people collecting trash off the beach midday!

It can be crowded on weekends, but you have to know where to find the right spots. I prefer this beach anyday over Coney Island, thanks to the wave action that occurs! Kids and adults are able to body surf or boogie board where ever they want. There are events occurring almost daily during the summer and it's a fun...

I went around 3: 00pm so the beach was basically empty which was nice. I actually got in the water which was cold at first but then it was good. Nice waves to listen to while I sat in my chair. The one con is that there was no lifeguard at the section that I went to. People went in the water but there was this guy going around on his ATV blowing his whistle telling everyone to get out. Total bummer. They need to spread those lifeguards that they do have out so everyone has access to the water not just certain sections.

A nice spot to enjoy a warm sunny day as well as local social events like concerts, art festivals, and book sales for those who aren't into swimming or fishing. The boats and lights from the Atlantic Beach Marina are within clear view across the inlet on the Long Island side after sunset. Please Note: Lifeguards are on duty until 6PM between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends and red flags mark the rip current areas to stay away from. Rockaway residents care about everyone's safety not just the locals.
