Sail Rockaway — Local services in New York

Sean provided an outstanding sailing experience during my visit to Rockaway! It was my first time sailing and his sailboat is safe for kids and holds up to six people. He provides cushions to sit in, in addition to a music speaker to play your own music and also binoculars to get a closer look at some of the attractions that he will identify along the sail route.

I had an afternoon sail, and learned that Sean also offers sunrise and sunset sails too!

Feel free to bring along a few snacks and beverages while enjoying this sailing experience. I found this sailing experience brought me so much peace in just those two hours.

We decided to visit Sail Rockaway on a whim for City of Water Day, not quite sure what to expect. Getting there required both a train and a bus, which made me a bit hesitant at first. But once we arrived, the experience far exceeded our expectations.

Our instructor, Sam, was fantastic, patient and encouraging. He even let my 9-year-old son take the helm under his supervision. What started as reluctant participation quickly turned into sheer excitement. My son was completely captivated by the experience and hasn't stopped talking about it nearly a week later!

Sailing around the calm waters of Jamaica Bay made for a peaceful and beautiful day. It truly felt like a hidden gem. I can't recommend this...

Had an awesome time with Sail Rockaway for an afternoon sail with my family. It was my Mom’s first time on a sail boat, as well as my daughters (she just turned 4). They were both a bit nervous, but that feeling slowly dissipated once we got on the water. The views are beautiful and it was very relaxing. Sean is a professional who also has deep care and admiration for the bay, which comes across in his approach to getting people out there and his willingness to share information ranging from sailing to ecology related to the bay.
