The Boulevard — Attraction in New York

Update 26 Nov 2024: I once again visited the auspicious Alamo Drafthouse and was happy to find the nearish escalators in working order. A decided improvement over past experience. As a result I am increasing my rating of The Boulevard by a star to 4 stars. If things continue looking up when I visit I will bring it to 5 stars. I do appreciate that a real effort is made to have things running well, thank you.

Prior review: My issue at The Boulevard is the poor maintenance of their elevators and escalators. On my most recent visit to the Alamo Drafthouse, the elevator was out, and the down escalator was closed. My arthritis made known its displeasure as I returned to my car. This is a lovely shopping plaza, a delightful variety of shops, but if the basic infrastructure is impaired, I can see such affecting people's decisions as to venue and location. Do better, 'The Boulevard'. Don't leave your excellent tenants wondering if they are screwed for choosing to go into business at your property. And as a customer of your tenants, I hope you choose to provide the infrastructure your tenants very...

As a lifelong Staten Islander, we always referred to this area and/or shopping mall as the "New Dorp Plaza", and to be honest the stubbornness in me still does. I will say since its redevelopment into "The Boulevard" it's clean, a beautiful multi-level open concept design, a plentiful selection of businesses both of the area prior and including new tenants such as the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema which I enjoy very much, and very inviting. I'm not shaving off any stars for it but on some occasions certain elevator banks were out of service and had to walk a longer distance to find another functioning one to meet my needs but I'm understanding on that matter. They did a nice job with this place, although parking here is still a nightmare. They have a parking garage with multiple levels. The problem is that it doesn't give you access to all the stores. You have to walk. The bottom level is that the lights are way too dark, and everyone, including me, would never park there because you can get mugged. They need to update their lighting.

They have a lot of choices for food options that you can get. Healthy and unhealthy. They also just brought 5 below and other stores that were in Newdorp Lane over this way. Just be careful by the supermarket. People double park and no one looks when backing out of spots. It's very dangerous...
