US Army Reserve — Attraction in New York

I want to start off by saying if you’re getting a CAC card and you’re trying to do walk ins do not come at 9. I’m from Yonkers and It’s a distance for me so I commute. If you live far and don’t drive I’d say don’t take the time to come because it’s a win or lose situation. From my experience I came 3 times. I came Friday but they don’t accept walkins , I came Monday at 9am in which it states that it opens but refused to see anyone because apparently there’s been a line since 7am and the max they see is 30 people a day. I came again today but this time at 7:30 and well there was already a line but luckily I was 6. Once 8am touched there was an employee saying that the person who does the cards called in sick. Very disappointing just for the simple fact that they only have just 1 person doing cards. I also spoke to another person in which she had said that they canceled her appointment and didn’t give a reason why or they don’t even pick up. Just thought I’d share...

I needed to get my CAC renewed, I originally had it an appointment at 1st Marine District at Garden City, they processed it and everything, when it was time to print the card, their machine was having technical difficulties/broken, their ID office clerk said I had to find another ID/CAC location. Fine..... this happens... I come to this location to get my CAC and the wait is long ......, unless you're the first 3-5 people. When it was my turn, the ID card worker, start questioning why I didn't get my CAC from the Garden City location, and I gave him the statement that their CAC was broken not functioning correctly, he started giving me the attitude and kept asking me for why I don't have it or where is it? Gave him the same answer and he tried calling the other area for a explanation, no response... In the end I got my CAC renewed, but if you can get an appoinment at another...

I checked online for all DEERS Military ID facilities and Ft Totten was the closest. I had my first ID done here 3 yrs ago and decided to come in for renewal. I called the facility and the automated answering machine said it’s open for walk-in’s Monday to Thursday from 9:00-1:00. I arrive at 10:25am and not one signage instructing which building to go to. They moved the ID location to another building due to asbestos cleaning in bldg. 200. Walked to bldg. 128, Turns out the guy doing IDs said he has 30 people waiting and his machine is not working, he’s not taking anymore people. He said to come back tomorrow. Seriously, he could’ve at least updated the automated answering machine to relay this message. I wasted my time and gas driving out here for nothing. Totally...
