Vibe Fitness BQE — Attraction in New York

The vibe is horrible now, miss the old humble BQE.

For the record, I've been a loyal BQE gym member for the last few years. I recently had a medical issue in March/April which I explained to staff the one time I was able to travel to the gym, as stated in May.

I went up to the front desk asking for a replacement parking pass, as mine had expired; but instead I was met with a policy change.

An employee stated there was a change in the membership pricing (Since February) and that I would now need to pay a different rate. Fair enough, understandable.

At that time, I asked for options to proceed with my membership, whether to Pause or Hold being that I would not physically be able to attend the gym. Hence why I hadn't been going regularly since February.

It was a bit disheartening that the person I was speaking to had no intention of providing any solutions for me. Nor tried to convince me to stay, but that's neither here nor there. In that moment I was left with no choice but to decide to walk away from the gym (that I enjoyed going to).

It is truly unfortunate that hostility and animosity is being used against folks who are leaving honest reviews. As for my Vibe comment, it merely underscores the lack of humility of your response.

Me & My mom love it the place is so much better then what it was before. it has so much light and natural lighting that it looks so much bigger. The food is so amazing the staff a super kind and the cleaning is on a next level its like no body used the woman's bathrooms and throughout the gym you see them cleaning. No corner is left uncleaned!!! AMAZING the environment is super peaceful and don't have the super feeling you're being rush and clustered because everything on the 1st and 2nd floor has a open area that looks out to the front desk, entrance and food court so you see the people go in and out. so you have a bit of privacy when get on the treadmill and its not super pack with machines on the 1st and 2nd floors too. as women i look for my comfort when going to a gym and they do have a women's area in the back next to bathroom and yoga studio that its very nice to finish doing some workouts on the machine there is wall separating the area from the rest. also they even have a daycare perfect for parents that want to workout. they give free classes too like spin cycling, yoga and boxing that my mom enjoys doing! 😄 i recommended this gym to everyone that live in Queens near the La Guardia Airport and Jackson heights area they aslo have parking if you like to go in car you just have to ask the front desk for the parking permission paper you give them your car plate and you just display it on the dashboard. parking is included in your gym subscription!!!! so you don't have to pay...

My girlfriend and I paid $1,900 over two years for our memberships, only to find out that the general manager had been running an off-the-books scam, collecting payments directly from members without processing them through the gym’s system.

We trusted that we were paying the gym properly. When the owners finally caught on, instead of taking full responsibility, they told us we had to pay an extra $1,000 just to keep our memberships active. They’re charging loyal customers to make up for their own lack of oversight.

We paid in good faith, yet we’re being punished for something completely outside of our control. It’s a shameful way to treat members, and it shows a serious lack of accountability on the gym’s part.

UPDATE: After posting this review the owner called my phone and proceeded to threaten me if I didn't take my review down he would ban me from his facility I refused and he began to start screaming at me over the phone calling me a loser and saying me and my fiancé will never step foot in his gym again because we left google reviews of how the situation at hand was handled. I've now been banned all because of a google review which is a violation of my right to leave an honest review.
