The need for this facility was more than amply justified Thursday 6/9/22 when a crowd of more then 1,000 Tibetans gathered to hear & receive blessings from the 41st & 42nd Sakya Trizins. In fact, although the facility has 2 large halls, if it had a 3rd hall of equal size, it would easily have been filled. As it was, half of the attendees had to settle on the floor & aisles. Some even settled on the sidewalk outside. Make no mistake about this - There was no room inside to maneuver. The indoor space was filled far beyond capacity. For a similar event in the future, this facility is inadequate. Another venue must be found. The need is clear & urgent. Read moreThe community center, once a space for Tibetan gatherings to preserve our culture and engage in worship, has now transformed into a political agenda that dictates the actions of minority individuals. Many of members are now fearful of visiting the center alone. These unsettling changes became evident following the election of the 18th term. Furthermore, some people visit to the center to address the biased decisions made by the 18th term executives, they not only threatened them but also reported them to the police for trespassing in our own community center.
