Disappointing Service at Walgreens (5001 Church Avenue, Brooklyn)
I’m extremely frustrated with the service I received at this Walgreens location. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that customer service was not a priority. I stood by the counter on the left side, hoping to get attention from an employee, but I was completely ignored by the tall African American worker. He didn’t even try to make eye contact, let alone acknowledge my presence.
After waiting for some time, I decided to go toward the customer line to pick up my online order. I knew that I should not have to wait in line for an online pickup, as store policy clearly states that customers who’ve ordered online should receive quicker service. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case here.
When I was finally called up by a second employee, I approached the counter (the one closest to the exit), and had to explain twice that I was there for a pickup. I even gave my name three times, but the employee, a woman with an Indian accent, seemed either unwilling or unable to process a Spanish last name. After getting frustrated, I suggested she use the last four digits of my order ID, but instead of helping, she completely brushed me off.
The icing on the cake was when she snapped, "You are not going to teach me how to do my job." It’s hard to understand how someone with such a poor attitude is allowed to work in customer service, especially when it’s clear that a lack of proper training is a big part of the problem.
This experience was infuriating and utterly disappointing. The attitude of the employees, combined with the clear lack of training and professionalism, made what should’ve been a quick and simple transaction anything but. It’s a shame that a major company like Walgreens would allow this level of service, and I won’t be returning to this location. If you’re looking for a smooth and respectful customer experience, I recommend finding a...
Read moreWalgreens does not appear to value life and instead has put the lives of patients who rely on the pharmacy at risk. For months the pharmacy (5001 Church Ave) was closed and would open inconsistently for a day or two. I missed two refills of my medication for my chronic condition during this time and have since moved my prescription to another pharmacy. Once when they were open, I stood on line for two hours to be told that the my automatic monthly refill was not placed and needed to be ordered (after waiting for two weeks, they never did provide me with my medication). I watched as others left empty handed, listened as someone with chronic backpain complained about the pain they were in from standing for so long, and watched as older women shuffled along and wondered what healthcare crisis Walgreens was creating in my community and what could be done. The manager of the store said the pharmacy did not have a permanent pharmacist and temporary pharmacists were sent to the store when possible. I find it strange that in an oversaturated market for pharmacist that Walgreens could not find a permanent pharmacist for more than 2 months. Beyond that, I am appalled at Walgreens failure to, at the very least, inform patients via phone and/or email with an automated message that they will not be able to provide the necessary service and patients should work with their doctor to send medications elsewhere. Instead, the store accepted new prescriptions on top of the existing prescriptions they did not fill and posted signs about "maintenance" and frequent "temporary" closures rather than being honest and direct about the life and death service it could not and therefore failed to provide. The grave injustice of this cannot...
Read moreI have used this Walgreen's location for years, however my most recent experience was so awful that I will never use them again. My son needed an urgent prescription for a medication filled. I received a text from Walgreen's informing that they had the prescription but that it was "delayed...out of stock, but we've ordered more". When I check the details on the website linked it informed me that the prescription would be back in stock tomorrow. However, when I called the next day the exact same message was given again "it should be here tomorrow". The following day the same thing occurred again. I finally decided that I needed to speak with a person and waited on hold for 30 minutes before being connected to the pharmacist. The pharmacist then informed me that not only did they NOT have my son's prescription, but that their order system had been down for a week and that they hadn't even ordered the medication. When I asked if they could transfer the prescription to a different Walgreen's they told me that was not possible, but I could have my doctor call it in to a different location. When I asked them if they could tell me which Walgreen's location did have my son's medication in stock, they told me that they were not allowed to tell me, but that I could call and ask the different locations myself. When I did, none of the other locations were able to tell me because they didn't have the prescription. This experience was dangerous for my son and frustrating for me. I will never use Walgreen's again and I recommend that if you have a prescription that is urgent, you get it...
