Update: it’s been really rainy and windy in NYC. I keep the windows locked. At least 4 of them are howling. I can’t tell you how annoying it is to hear them making noise. I’m going to get in touch w NYC DCWP - maybe they’ll believe me that the windows are insufficient. Also thanks for offering to recaulk them. You’ve been here several times and it’s still wrong. Do you think I’m going to let you in again? It’s a total waste of time. Sorry can’t be “nice” anymore.
We got 6 slider windows & one balcony sliding door from this company in April 2022. I really love how responsive they were, quick install time, and Lisa was always on the ball. If it wasn't for Lisa...they wouldn't be getting this high of a rating from me.
The windows we got, for one reason or another are not great. Maybe it's because they're the bottom of the line. The big shock for me was that they howl unless they are locked. So, if you leave the windows unlocked (which it's not easy to climb on furniture in some cases to lock the latches) they will howl.
At least one of our windows still howls when locked.
For months Lisa was so understanding and responsive. She even got the manufacturer to come out to check the windows. Whenever I spoke to anyone from Window King acted like it was normal for the windows to howl unless they locked.
I even got another window company to come take a look because I was at a loss. I never had howling windows before! They told me they were not installed correctly or perhaps not measured correctly. That they were bowed in the center for some reason.
Anyway, long story short - these windows will have to do for now. I can't afford to get new ones. If I were to do this all over again, I would say - get one window installed. See how you like it. If you do, go for the rest.
I just have to say, this company is super responsive & I am sure they had very good intentions when installing our windows.
Also, they used non-paintable silicone on the windows & when we painted our windowsills, we realized it was not applied evenly at all so it looks...
Read moreThe company: I would recommend Window king to anyone and all looking to replace their windows. The company is small and works directly with you. The sales rep is quick in presentation with no fillers, gimmicks or discounts tricks. Their price is standard, stable and affordable. If you buy now, six months from now or 9 months later, the price is the same. This leads to no pressure in how you decide to replace your windows and never feeling that you could have saved more had you done it all at once while not having enough finances nor feeling you got hacked by the sales rep in doing it all now while not really affording it. Very friendly staff.
Installers: Those who replaced the windows were friendly and very punctual. They did a great job and were very cooperative and compliant in filling your request if you wanted something done or redone. However, I did wish they took the initiative in making sure the whole exterior window including the capping all looked great without customer requesting it individually.
Work inspection and supervision: The only down side is having to personally inspect to ensure they filled the edges with foam after seeing a window frame put back with no foam to seal the window leaving visible gaps and exterior light being seen between the window frame. The individual seem inexperienced and was not aware of the required foam or additional insulation required to seal the window from a cold draft. Had this not been corrected early during installation, I would have wondered on the other installs leaving me to feel not too confident in their installation and sealing quality. The installation manager was excellent on his installs but the team requires work inspection before replacing window frames by manager. A walk thru quality install inspection by manager with the customer would have been excellent before replacing window frame to ensure each window is leveled and sealed correctly (at least for customer satisfaction). Small things that probably most window...
Read moreWindow King just finished a total replacement of our town home's windows and sliders and we are totally satisfied. We had 23 leaky windows and two sliders that let more air in than kept it. After meeting with a number of window companies we settled on Window King because of the quality of the Okna windows they carry - these are composite windows that look and feel solid and have some of the best energy performance ratings (U-Factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient). Then there was the human element - we felt very comfortable with Mike, our salesman who came to our house several time and took the time to answer our many questions about the windows and the installation process. We ordered in early February and the windows arrived as scheduled, in early April. On the first day of installation, master installer Ralph and his partner Chico (Chico and The Man), arrived on time and set to work covering all the surfaces that could be affected by the replacement process. The window removal process was not easy due to the type of windows (aluminum) that were installed by the builder of the development, but Ralph and Chico, worked in perfect harmony. The next day, the duo became a power trio, with the addition of Colonel, another master installer, and the harmony just grew. In fact, all three are master installers and my wife and I could not be happier with the work that was done, the clean-up that followed, the customer service we obtained from Mike and Lisa, the office manager. Honestly, we can't say enough good things about...
