Never Again will I ever schedule a surgery through Rutgers (specifically the Dept. of Otolaryngology) the nurses never ever did their job in regards to pre admission, keeping me updated with what tests I needed to have, getting approval from the insurance company to have the tests completed, what doctors I needed clearance with prior to surgery.... I even had to stay on top of them just to get Covid testing for pre admission. Here I am, the day before surgery still scrambling to get clearance from the cardiologist because they never handled that either. Every time I have an appointment, no one wants to check me in at the front desk. It’s like the entrance has a mysterious power that makes me invisible by the time I hit the desk. There’s always nasty attitudes and everything is disorganized. Meanwhile patients (including me, who is disabled) who don’t feel well have to work harder and go out of our way to make sure we get proper treatment. Never have I ever experienced a nightmare like this. My doctor/surgeon Dr. Hsueh is freaking amazing (why I left 5 stars) but the nurses need a miracle ... and proper training. I understand it is covid season and offices are understaffed but that has nothing to do with inappropriate conduct and the mishandling of a patients scheduled surgery. Lastly, I want to mention that I also go to Rutgers School of Dentistry in Newark for my routine dental and TMJ treatment. I have never had any issues with the School of Dentistry. They are the most pleasant and efficient! This is also why I have rated 5 stars
2024 Update: After the terrible experiences I’ve had visiting the Newark office, I finally had the option to travel to the Livingston office for Otolaryngology. Dr. Hsueh has been my doctor for years both in the Newark and Livingston office. The care and concern that he provides exceeds any other Otolarygoligist (Nasal and Sinus Surgery, Allergy, and Skull Base Surgery Specialist) I have been treated by in the past. I’ve had preventative care and also two surgeries with Dr.Hsueh. My issues with my sinuses and face have haunted me since childhood. It wasn’t until I found Dr. Hsueh that I am now better. He listens to my concerns and always has a great solution, also provides different options for me to choose which I am most comfortable with when it comes to planned care. I have followed Dr.Hsueh from the Newark office to now the Livingston office. I had horrible experiences with nursing staff and the front desk at the Newark office but Dr. Hsueh’s amazing care is what made me travel to the Livingston office which I adore. The nurses and staff in the Livingston office make you feel comfortable, they make sure you are taken care of, and are always pleasant and sure to go above and beyond to make sure your visit is quick and easy. I recommend visiting him at the Livingston location which is also easier to access if you have...
Read moreI have been to different clinics and hospitals, maybe more than the average person because of my families history with medical problems. I mention this because Rutgers has genuinely impressed me. Clean facility, pleasant and patient people working here (plenty of young talent), and they seem to honestly want to help you here. I was very surprised they took our insurance and on top of that charge less than some local clinics for service. Very happy with our experience thus far(mother and myself) and just wanted to express gratitude for...
Read moreVery terrible Program Manager from department of surgery. An important case was open and she never followed up with it. I emailed her and she ignored 5-6 emails. Only when I directly called her office, she picked up and told me that there was nothing she can do to help with a very vague reasoning. This could have been prevented if she could just follow up with the case in the first place. Overall, very unprofessional and hope that there is justice! If I hear anything like this again from other people, legal action...
