IHOP — Restaurant in Newark

Terrible service & food! We went on a Friday morning around 11am, and were seated immediately as the restaurant was about half-full. Our waitress was very disinterested and obviously not a happy employee; after taking our drink menus it took a good 5 minutes for her to come back, and even came back with the wrong drinks. It took another 5 to get the proper drinks, and then we were able to order food, and also asked for some waters. We never got our water from her - other tables were seated, including a large group which she brought pitchers of water to, so we ended up getting up to ask someone else for water to bring.

The food itself took another 20 minutes, during which I heard several other tables asking "Is there anyone working here today?", so we weren't the only table with service. The food arrived slightly cold, and missing some items - such as toast which took another 5 minutes to arrive. The food didn't taste too good, and after finishing my wife actually had to run to the bathroom to throw up - thankfully someone was leaving the bathroom so she didn't have to wait to ask for the code.

A delivery person was waiting too, and was loudly complaining that their order was set to be picked up 20 minutes ago. They were told the kitchen was backed up because it was a full house (despite being 1/2 full).

Getting out of there was another matter... it took another 10 mins for the waitress to arrive to ask for the bill, 5 minutes for the bill, another 3 for her to arrive to take my card (who doesn't have mobile payment terminals, so someone doesn't have to walk away with a CC anymore?!), and then another 5 to come back.

Overall a terrible trip; my kids still talk about IHOP, as the worst restaurant ever, and I assure you we'll never go...

This is one of the most disgusting food establishments I've ever been to. Im not sure if it's new management but about 8 months ago it wasn't like this. The food was cold, and tasted as if it had been sitting in the back for a while. They had no ice and the floors were super sticky. The bathrooms were nasty,water on the floors and smelled like straight urine. A sink from both bathrooms was not working. I hadn't been here in months and I thought it would be good especially because the last time me and my family were here it was good,pretty clean and good service. I was starving just getting off of work not wanting to cook. I brought my family with me as well,thinking we will enjoy it but this was horrible. Me and my kids all felt nauseous and had bad stomach aches later on in the night.And some woman who I believe was the manager had a nasty attitude. She definitely wasn't welcoming, she acted as if she was being bothered and annoyed. I wont ever be going back there again. Newark health inspectors need to do an inspection ASAP!! Also there was a great manager there before,he had braids,light brown skinned and had an accent like Jamaican I think. Not sure what his name was. I do know everytime I went there and he was the manager on duty,the food was fresh and hot,the atmosphere was great and his hospitality was even better,very kind and welcoming. My recent visit to IHOP in Newark, NJ, was delightful, and a significant part of that experience was thanks to Ashley, our server. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. Ashley greeted us with a warm smile and seated us promptly, ensuring we were comfortable.

The restaurant itself was clean and had a cozy atmosphere. The menu offered a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, making it difficult to choose just one dish. Ashley was incredibly patient as we took our time deciding. She offered recommendations and provided detailed descriptions of various dishes, which was very helpful. She even suggested some of the best meals to try, which turned out to be fantastic choices.

Our food arrived quickly, and everything was cooked to perfection. The pancakes were fluffy, the omelets were savory, and the coffee was hot and fresh. Ashley checked on us regularly, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Her attention to detail and friendly demeanor truly enhanced our dining experience.

Additionally, we were impressed by Ashley's dedication and positive attitude, especially considering she is pregnant. Her professionalism and cheerful service were truly commendable.

Overall, IHOP in Newark is a great spot for a meal any time of the day, and the excellent service provided by Ashley made our visit even more enjoyable. This is the only IHOP I will eat at, and I will definitely be returning and hope to see...
