The Custom House Maritime Museum is well worthy of a trip to Newburyport, MA if you are a fan of any of a myriad of special nautically related interests, including: maritime history, boating, boat craft, model ship building, American History, Newburyport History, sailors handicrafts and more. Come to learn, be amazed, and sometimes enjoy viewing your own family history through the artifacts on display. So many of our American ancestors are tied to Atlantic ship crossings, and so much of our economic development stems from laborers' and merchants' work on the waters of the Merrimack and Atlantic. Read moreWhat a great time at the Custom House last Saturday from 10-1!! A bouncy house drew my 3 year old grandson in on the back lawn which also had many child appropriate activities. A water table, fishing pond and and air hocket table turned into a sailboat racing river just to name a few!! Some great imagination went into this event which continues on Saturdays until September. You can learn about the founding of the Coast Guard, see what life was like for local residents, view historic documents, or attend an informative talk.
