The Poynt is an elegant and sophisticated restaurant located in the picturesque town of Newburyport, Massachusetts. From the moment I walked in, I knew that I was in for an extraordinary dining experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with cozy lighting, a classy decor, and buzzing energy. The staff was extremely welcoming, knowledgeable, and attentive, and they ensured that we felt taken care of throughout the entire meal.
For appetizers, we ordered the poke stack and the teriyaki beef dumplings, and they were simply delicious. The poke stack was fresh and vibrant, with delicate flavorful cuts of raw tuna, avocado, and a delicous sauce that made every bite satisfying. The teriyaki beef dumplings came in a delicate dough wrapper, and they were filled with juicy, savory meat that practically melted in our mouths.
For our main courses, we ordered the rye crusted cod and the braised short rib tacos, and they were both phenomenal. The cod was cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior that contrasted perfectly with the succulent, flaky flesh. The cauliflower accompanied it was beautifully executed, and each bite was a delightful blend of flavors and textures. The short rib tacos were simply exquisite - the tender meat fell apart with every bite, and the blend of spices, vegetables and sauce was just heartwarming.
For dessert, we ordered the pretzel cheesecake and chocolate cake. The pretzel cheesecake was unlike anything I'd ever tried before. The creamy cheesecake was complemented with a crunchy, salty, yet mildly sweet pretzel, which was a perfect combination with the sweetness of the cheesecake filling. The chocolate cake was also impressive and delicious.
What stands out about The Poynt is that it combines elegant fine dining with an unpretentious and welcoming atmosphere. Each dish was beautifully presented, perfectly seasoned, and the flavors outstanding. The attentive staff, the beautiful ambiance, and an amazing selection of culinary delights, make The Poynt a must-try restaurant for anyone visiting Newburyport. I highly...
Read moreThis is absolutely our new favorite restaurant in the area. Excellent food, atmosphere and service. We arrived early evening on a beautiful Saturday night. The restaurant and bar were packed, but we wanted to eat outside on the deck. Would definitely come back and eat inside on a day that's not as nice, we really liked the decor and ambiance- classy but trendy and not stuffy. The deck has couch seating with low tables, but we sat at bar seats at a long bar that faced the water. Our waitress was prompt, and the service overall was excellent. It looked as though there were multiple outdoor servers which was nice- often you are forgotten about when you choose to eat outside. We got our drinks, and my husband's beer glass had a crack in it. Our waitress took care of it immediately, apologized, and brought him a new beer on the house. We ordered an app and two entrees. For an appetizer we ordered the crab rangoon sushi roll which was delicious and tasted just like a deconstructed crab rangoon. It was cut up into eight pieces and made the perfect sized appetizer to share. Before we received our entrees, a gentleman who seemed to be a manager came to us with a small bowl of clams and linguini as another apology for the broken beer glass. This is not something I would have normally ordered, but the flavors were delicious! It was buttery and garlicky and honestly I may get this the next time we go. My husband and I both ordered from the daily specials for entrees. I ordered the filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes. The two 5oz filets were cooked perfectly medium, and the potatoes were incredible. My husband ordered the seared cod with risotto and edamame, and it was tough to choose who ordered the better dish. The wine list is not huge, but had some great selections and I had a white blend that was excellent, along with a very tasty white sangria. We were very impressed by the food, the service, and the atmosphere and are looking forward...
Read moreAvoid if you have food allergies. My husband and I haven't been to The Poynt in quite some time and decided to go back after so long. We arrived prior to the dinner rush, sat at the bar & ordered cocktails. There were 3 bartenders (unfortunately only 2 were productively working). 1 bartender was making drinks for the dining room & 1 bartender worked the opposite side of the bar from where we were seated. The last bartender seemed to be in the way of the others. He took my husband's empty glass put it in the dishwasher and never asked him or I if we would like another drink or place a food order. He actually wouldn't make eye contact. We sat for 15 minutes until the bartender making drinks for the room saw that we had nothing to drink and got us drinks. We then sat with our menus neatly placed at the edge of the bar until again the bartender making drinks for the dining room saw and told the bartender that wouldn't look at us to take our order. I ordered a ceaser salad and the meatball app and informed him I was allergic to balsamic. I was completely horrified when the dishes arrived and there was balsamic in a cup on the plate that had my ceaser salad??? Instead of telling the kitchen of my allergy he had them add it to the order!!! When I told the woman that brought us our food of my allergy she looked uncomfortable and immediately took the plate away and brought a fresh salad. Needless to say it was difficult to enjoy my meal afterwards as I felt I had dodged having to use my EpiPen and a visit to the ER. We couldn't get out of there fast enough after that. I wouldn't say that we won't go back but if I go in and see that bartender working I will...
