A serene and well maintained park located near the Back Bay of Newport Beach, I stopped in after my haircut to jog a 5k on the Back Bay trail before my first half marathon later this weekend in Long Beach. Having done a short residency in this neighborhood last year at around this same time, I continue to feel comfortable popping in occasionally for a recreational jog, a haircut, a magnificent sunset view, or some Baskin Robbins caramel macchiato ice cream...do not tell my keto coaches. 😉 The soccer fields were adorned with a league getting in some practice time and there were others having a picnic and several professional dog walkers handling their afternoon clients. The SoCal air was clean and mild. The intensity of summer subtly fading, but the sun still hot and the grass still green. The poplar trees along the perimeter had leaves fading into the browns and goldish auburns of autumn but the other tropical natives still very much in bloom with fuschias and lavendars and hunter greens. The early autumn afternoon was calm and pleasant and left me feeling renewed and rejuvenated. Taking care of yourself by exercising in a park while enjoying the scenery of the plants and interesting architecture can never be a bad thing whether physically, emotionally, or spiritually...though now I have to make up tonight what I meant to do this morning...and such is a beautiful...
   Read moreGreat public park, well maintained and great new remodeled play ground, clubhouse and brand new bathrooms. There are two artificial turf field for soccer and baseball and another larger grassy field also with a baseball field and mount. Great lighting at night time, and the fields are used throughout the day. In the morning you see the aspiring pro Football and Baseball payers practicing with their coaches; in the late afternoon early evenings you see lots of soccer / flag football matches: and the evening you have adult league pickleball and other fun games. The park is well-maintained and in a good area. Easily accessible from University Avenue, literally right off the 73 and not too far from the 405 or 55. Well-lit at night and the roads were just repaved around the park, as I write 4igs review.
