Fort Fun — Attraction in Newport News

I highly recommend this park. It is very nice & across the parking lot the kids can safely walk down a wooden railed walkway to watch the fish, geese, ducks & lots of fish. Kids can fish from that little pier. There are lots of play equipment, nicely landscaped & the bathrooms here were actually clean & not filled with bad bathroom odors. Plenty of shade, there are some picnic tables to the far left side & some covered picnic areas between the play area & the beach access to the far left of the playground. It had been years since attending this "go to" park for our family--50+ yrs since our kids who were kids then and it was nostalgic & new @ the same time: larger space, huts from others and the play area all really great!! View of the James River through beautiful mature trees brought a continous breeze even though quite warm. The gathering to celebrate my aunt's 97 birthday w/5 generations of family from Boston to Georgia & everywhere in-between was priceless. Ft. Fun made the difference, truly. This place is absolutely awesome. Love bringing my kids here to play so many different opinions. Lovely place just to go take a walk and enjoy nature. So relaxing here. Plenty of room to throw footballs or have a picnic depending on what you like to do. Always a bunch of families here so the kids can interact with other kids. Somehow I always have to be the one playing tag and of course I'm always it lol. Cool ship play ground to act like pirates. Just an enjoyable area. Would definitely recommend to...
