A really great local spot where they haven't changed a bit since they opened and that gives it all the more charm. The juxtaposition of the building itself set against the constantly growing Hampton roads makes it feel like you're pulling into a time capsule, isolated from fleeting trends and expansion. Inside you'll hear casual conversation between patrons who share nothing in common other than their love for local food, the hum a of an AC unit, and the sizzle if the griddle. What you'll find missing is the electronic atmosphere you'll find in every other building that serves a hamburger. No up tempo music playing over speakers, no TV playing the news or talk show, and not even in the kitchen is there a beep or alarm. No timer indicating when to flip a burger or pull the fries out. Not even an electric point of sale, that job is fulfilled by a notebook. All this to not even mention the food. They serve burgers. You will receive a burger cooked by someone who's been cooking burgers for years. They are timeless. They are the standard. Don't expect the coolest new thing in sauces or toppings formally only found along the silk road in the far east. The burgers are a little extra wide, buns to match, so you won't be struggling to for every ingredient in one bite. Just grab a cheeseburger with everything on it, some fries, and maybe a milk shake. You won't be...
Read moreI came to WHATABURGER to place an order for one of the delivery services I contract for. The older lady at the window was so rude as if I was wrong for ordering what was placed in the app. I was just reading off what it said and she was snappy with me because what was in the app order did not match with the menu they have. Now, I do not eat from them (I am a pescatarian, so I am not familiar with the menu). I only ordered what was showing in the app. Anywho, she could have been a bit nicer once I let her know that I was only ordering what was listed from my end. Just rude. I called the customer to let her know that her order she placed was not possible because they did not offer half the item's she placed. Thank goodness she understood the confusion and was very polite about the situation. Some people are just evil people. Maybe the heat had a bit flustered but, still no excuse to be so rude. Thank goodness I do not spend my money there at anytime because today they would have lost a customer. But they did lose one after I let the customer know of the way she responded to me trying to place her order.. Keep your 🍔. It's killing...
Read moreI placed a pick up order through the DoorDash app. On the way there, my baby fell asleep. I called the restaurant to ask if someone could bring the food out to my car. The DoorDash app sends me a notification saying it’s ready and I even parked in front of the door so someone could hand it to me. The person I spoke with was really nice (at first) and had no issue with bringing it out. An hour goes by and my food wasn’t out, so I called back. When I called back another employee answered the phone and wasn’t aware of what I asked earlier so he gave the phone back to the person I spoke with prior. I was placed on hold but I hear the two employees talking and I hear the guy I spoke with the first time I called say “well she can come inside, she see we are busy”… and then the phone hangs up. They were not busy whatsoever. I knew my food was already done. So I ended up going inside and my food was soggy and disgusting. Horrible customer service and I’m never spending my money there again. I even tipped the staff as well. If it was a big issue to have my food brought out to my car, I would’ve just went into the restaurant in the...
